Christian Bale Weight Loss Diet Helps Him To Lose 63 Pounds in Four Months

Oscar-winning actor Christian Bale lost 63 pounds in less than four months to play a movie role in The Machinist. The method actor is extremely dedicated in applying all of his acting talent into each role, including drastically losing or gaining weight in order to fit the part.

Christian began his acting career at the age of 13 by starring in Steven Spielberg’s Empire of the Sun. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of the character Dicky Eklund in The Fighter.

This year, Bale was nominated for another Academy Award; Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance as a con-artist character named Irving Rosenfeld in American Hustle.

Bale has a reputation of gaining and losing weight for his movie roles. His first weight loss routine episode was when he lost 63 pounds for The Machinist.

The Christian Bale weight loss diet consisted of an apple and can of tuna fish per day. Occasionally, he used Anne Hathaway’s weight loss strategy of eating just two thin squares of dried oatmeal paste.

It’s also reported that Bale drank a lot of coffee, chewed gum, smoked cigarettes, and ate salads to prepare for his role.

The Christian Bale weight loss routine for his movie role in The Machinist required the actor to look very thin. Bale played the role of a machinist who suffered from insomnia.

Most people with insomnia lose weight due to the lack of sleep. Before filming began, and in an attempt to look like someone who had the sleeping disorder, Christian weighed 173 pounds and had to use a weight loss routine to get to the weight of 110 pounds.

Bale’s menu comprised of one can of tuna fish, and/or one apple per day, black coffee, and water. These types of food are extremely low in calories and help to boost the body’s metabolism.

Apples are high in sugar and pectin, which helps in curbing an appetite. Coffee also increases metabolism.

To speed up the weight loss process, Bale exercised very hard. His regime included intensive resistance, weight training workouts, and rigorous cardio workouts.

In addition to the workouts and diet, Bale took vitamin supplements every day.

Immediately following his role in The Machinist, Christian had only six months to gain weight and in addition, add more muscle for his role in Batman Begins.

Ultimately, he gained 100 pounds, which brought his weight up to 230 pounds. However, he gained too much for the role because the director, Christopher Nolan asked him to exercise his weight loss strategy and reduce his weight to 190 pounds, in order to fit the part of the main character, Bruce Wayne.

For the 2013 movie, American Hustle, Christian gained 40 pounds for his role, by eating a never-ending amount of junk food, particularly cheeseburgers.

Christian Bale weight loss strategy may have worked for him; however, the tuna and apple diet is only recommended for extremely overweight or obese people under medical supervision. Additionally, it should be used for no more than 12 weeks.

Christian is very much appreciated for his acting ability, hard work, and dedication to his craft. However, taking a holistic and safe approach to weight loss is perhaps a better and healthier alternative than the Christian Bale weight loss routine.
