Suspect in custody after murder at Virginia Tech

Tragedy has returned to Virginia Tech, with the body of a female graduate student being found on campus grounds this evening.
The discovery of the body at the Graduate Life Center triggered a crisis alert system that was put in place after the Virgina Tech Massacre in 2007.
Students were warned at 7:44 p.m. local time to stay in place by an alert sent by e-mail and text message, and were cleared an hour later to return to what it was they were doing.
Police have a suspect in custody. The suspect is male and police have found a knife they believe was the murder weapon.

My daughter graduated from Virginia Tech 6 years ago and when we first saw the campus we thought nothing would ever happen here…because it was so serene and beautiful and had one of the greatest reputations for college students, etc. VT today, is still one of the most gorgeous and well respected universities in our country. Murder's, rapes, etc. happen all over the country in many different states and campuses and my daughter is devastated to think that VT is getting all this bad publicity and has recommended that VT should hire a good PR team to make VT one of the safest and best colleges in America to attend.
Our thoughts go out to the family of the young woman that was murdered recently and the VT staff…..
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those students and their families again at this terrible time.
