Obama Retakes the Oath of Office

US President Barack Obama has retaken the oath of office after Chief Justice John Roberts fumbled the word order of the oath Inauguration Day.

Conspiracy theorists, and Fox News had gone as far as suggesting that given Obama had not repeated the oath correctly, he may not be President.

White House Counsel Greg Craig said that the Administration believes “that the oath of office was administered effectively and that the President was sworn in appropriately yesterday…but the oath appears in the Constitution itself. And out of an abundance of caution, because there was one word out of sequence, Chief Justice Roberts administered the oath a second time.”

The President retook the oath in the Map Room of the White House, responding to the query from Roberts “Are you ready to take the oath?” by saying “”I am, and we’re going to do it very slowly.”
