Ashton Kutcher bags Bush booing: For the first time, I think I might like him

Demi Moore’s boy toy and actor Ashton Kutcher has taken to task people who booed President Bush during the Obama Inauguration yesterday.
Kutcher writes on his blog about his experience at the Inauguration:
I had the great fortune of attending the inauguration today with my wife. For the most part it was really breath taking. To stand in the middle of such an enormous mass cheering for the potential of the future captured me. I was less impressed by the boo’s as the republican representative took the stage. I found it to be offensive and separating. I was also appalled by the people who didn’t stand when former President, then President G W Bush appeared. I urged the people around me to rise. Regardless of whether or not you agree with, or like the man, he at that time was still our president and he gave 8 years of his life to serve you. The cook might not be making what you like but be grateful for the fact that he’s serving you at all. How many people can say that they’ve dedicated 8 years of their life to the greater good of man kind, made the toughest decisions known to man. Even if you don’t by any of that at least the guy made you laugh. Part of being an American is standing by the process and respecting our commander. Don’t be an Obama patriot, be a patriot.
I’m not a Kutcher fan, but for the first time I think I might like him. Bush may be deservedly hated, but a little respect shows a better strength of character than just plain rudeness.

It shows amazing depth of thought… I would never have expected that from the dude.

I was sad to hear that the president and his entire party and family was booed. I was reported by CNN Inauguration night in a comment made by a female correspondent at one if the inaugural balls. He was still the president and still deserved that respect. I fell really bad about it and I wasn't even there. Nor did I see it. Sad indeed.

My daughter is impressed by some of the projects that Ashton Kutcher has brought to TV. For example, she felt that “Beauty and the Geek” wasn't exploitative, but that the beauties and the geeks actually learned from each other through the process. I've never seen the show myself so I can't give my opinion, but teenagers are always right so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.
Re the treatment of Bush, I'm forced to admit that disrespect goes both ways. There were many people who could not, and would not, accept Bill Clinton as Commander in Chief.

Sorry, but Mr. Kutcher's allegiance is misplaced, and his grammar appalling. “Part of being an American is standing by the process and respecting our commander.” Yes, do not question your commander. This same thinking has allowed agents of war and destruction to continue their misguided agendas through the ages. People should be free to express joy or bitterness in the great tradition of free speech. Amen.

I'm so pleased to hear a celeb express reverence for the Office of President. I just became a fan of Ashton Kutcher. I think it is worth repeating that you can always question and strongly disagree but reverence and respect are still deserved. Well played Ashton.
Jan 22, 2009
LMFAO, you've GOT to be kidding me? You and Ashton are claiming that G-Dub dedicated 8 years of his life to ME? Or wait… THE GREATER GOOD OF MANKIND? hahahah No, I'm sorry, you're right… he didn't have any sort of hidden agenda. He was completely devoted to making the world a better place. lol, good luck with your publishings “Inquistr”.

I think a little respect should be well but 8 years of his life to serve us can also be translated into 8 years of fucking the country to shit! I'm fucking serious Bush took 25 years worth of vacation thats 500 days! The incidents on 9/11 and him operating guantanamo bay torturing prisoners. I'm sorry but Ashton Kutcher might really need to understand all the flaws the presidents has done. Not to mention he called the constitution a goddamn piece of paper doesn't sound like a president that had much respect for the laws that were established beforehand why should he recieve respect from the people. I say Fuck Bush!!
Jan 22, 2009
Yea and Obama said the Bill of Rights should be dropped and changed to a bill of guarantees. Not to mention his party trying to subvert the constitution so we can crown Obama king and not have to worry with that 8 year business. PAAAH LEEEZ. He deserves respect from anyone and everyone that same as any president.
Jan 22, 2009
I will not stand for or respect any blue suit President (puppet), who signs law after law taking away our very freedoms and civil rights, all in front of our unseeing eyes.
Jan 22, 2009
From “Punk'd” to patriot ….. dude's been hanging out too much with his wife's ex….though I gotta admit I admire his priorities in terms of respect for the officeholder. This is America; though – folks should be free to boo if they wanna.
Jan 22, 2009
isn;y Bush the biggest idiot in tyhe world. I think he is as bad as saddam hussein and people beat his statue with shoes. i think booing Bush was good.
Jan 22, 2009
i see it both ways…. BUSH WAS A TURD… HIS AGENDA WAS FOR THE OIL MEN AND THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX… HE SENT US INTO A WAR FOR LIES… TO GIVE NO COMPETE CONTRACTS TO HALLIBURTON…. THEY RAN ROUGH SHOD OVER THE CONSTITUTION (which i swore an oath to defend against all enemies, foreign and domestic) bush and cheney WERE AND ARE enemies to the constitution and should be dealt with accordingly. BUT…. and its a mighty big but……. the inauguration wasnt a football game. the whole world was watching.. people should mail their shoes to midland texas c/o gw bush to show him personally….. or to the prison he and cheney will be in after we grow some balls and prosecute him and his ilk for war crimes.
Jan 22, 2009
hey you are cool
Jan 22, 2009
It's sad when a past president's redeeming quality is “At least the guy made you laugh.” NO, Ashton, NO. He didn't even do it on purpose; let's get real.
Jan 23, 2009
It would be nice if he didn't write like an eighth grader, but that's another program.
And he was my “Commander”? I didn't know that. How neat. What is this, fucking Germany now?
Sorry, Ashton, patriotism is loyalty to one's country, not its officeholders.
Jan 23, 2009
You didn't know that the president is Commander In Chief of our nation's military?
I'd also like to point out that no matter what Ashton claims he did for 8 years, let's remember that he didn't do it for 8 years; He spent over 500 days of his presidency on vacation; the most any president has ever spent. This figure doesn't take Sundays into consideration either, which modern Catholicism mistakenly dubbed 'the sabbath' or 'day of rest'. There were some noted occasions that he was in the public eye on a Sunday, but they're few and far between.
To anyone defending him:
Step 1: Check your facts. I'd suggest getting them from a news source from a country that's truly more free than we are (Sweden, Norway, Netherlands etc.) rather than the saturated, polluted American media (which happens to be run by people who are FAR more powerful than G-Dub) with an agenda that lies way beyond revenue and flat-out lies to us on a daily basis.

It's called being civil! Kutcher is right. Civility, good manners, etc. are not in the buffoons on the left handbook of life lessons they must learn. It's glaringly apparent they weren't raised in civilized homes. They can't appreciate sacrifice for the greater good because they have never done so. Thank you President Bush for keeping ALL of us safe since 9/11! We are eternally grateful!

Hey Brett:
AMERICA: LOVE IT……OR LEAVE IT!
Jan 23, 2009
Kudos to Chris (Ashton)…..very classy.
Jan 23, 2009
I completely …. NO
COMPLETEYL agree with Ahston! I wont' go as far as to say that Bush dedicated 8 years of life to the better of mankind. Thats a bit too much to digest. HOwever, he WAS the President; regardless of your personal feelings/opinions you may or maynot respect the MAN (GWB), however, you MUST respect his TITLE — Mr. President! While he holds to highest office in the land one should always give due respect, if not to the man/woman, but to the station he/she serves.
Jan 24, 2009
I wonder if the people he “served” during Hurricane Katrina should have stood too. Ashton go back to your celebrity little life and let the people who went thought hell under 8 years of Bush have there cake and eat it to…
Jan 25, 2009
Yeah yeah, “these colors don't run” … “United We Stand” … I read the bumper-sticker Chrissy.
Please check your flag-waving cheerleading rah-rah bumper-sticker empty gesture BS at the door. Then take a moment to distinguish between patriotism and presidential approval.
America is alright Chrissy, but our previous president was not. Not by any stretch of the imagination. Obviously this is open to interpretation, but he's going down in history in the eyes of most as THE WORST president of all-time. And anyone who doesn't consider him THE WORST has to rank him in the bottom five to maintain any sort of credibility.
amy, if thinking that there was ever a threat of another* attack on American soil anytime recently or soon and thinking that G-Dub somehow helped further prevent such an attack helps you sleep at night, then more power to you.
*this is under the general assumption that the US Government had no involvement in the 9/11 attacks (anyone not working under this assumption understands that it's been a long time since there was a genuine national-security threatening foreign attack on American soil).
Jan 25, 2009
My approval rating of Ashton Kutcher is about the same as America's approval rating of G-Dub. I wish someone would throw a shoe at Ashton.
Jan 25, 2009
Yeah, they wont be going to any prison or be prosecuted for any was crimes now that they're not in office anymore. There's legislation in place to ensure it. We would have never tried they ourselves anyway. That would have put our country in a frenzy and there would have probably been lots of civil disobedience and scaremongering going on. If Buch and Cheney were to be prosecuted for war crimes it would have required the involvement of another country and the world court (I think the ICC would do it; not the ICJ) And oddly enough, when voting on the statute that put the ICC into place, there were 148 countries' votes that were counted and America, China, and Iraq were 3 of the 7 countries that voted against enstatement of the organization. We didn't need this to get rid of Hussein though… no, instead we go give them a new government and make that government try him under their own laws, thus avoiding the ICC completely.
