Eric Frein: The Public Execution Of Character And The Thin Blue Line

Eric Frein will stand trial for the alleged murder of one Pennsylvania state trooper, and the wounding of another, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, and could face the death penalty. He allegedly confessed to wanting to start a revolution with this act. The charges that have been levied against Frein are quite extensive.

  • Murder in the first degree
  • Homicide of a law enforcement officer
  • Attempted murder in the first degree
  • Attempted homicide of a law enforcement officer
  • Assault of a law enforcement officer
  • Possession of weapons of mass destruction
  • Discharging a firearm into an occupied structure
  • Possession of an instrument of crime
  • Reckless endangerment

Sadly, nothing has come as a surpise. The media sensationalist train has already rolled out of the station. Woo woo! Propaganda, propaganda! Woo! Woo! Eric Frein: Life Or Death, not Eric Frein: Innocent or Guilty, was the last major headline. This was brought to you by an ignorant mainstream press that has already convicted him.

I was recently listening to “Sympathy for Devil” by The Rolling Stones, and this is pretty much how anyone interested in truth and justice feels right now.

It’s as if we have “Sympathy for the Devil”. The Salem witch trial of Eric Mathew Frein is just a “He’s guilty. Get over it”. It feels like a bad episode of Law and Order at this point. I could hear Lenny Briscoe now. “, but he killed a cop”. You imagine Eric Frein sitting in an interrogation room as Lenny and Ed are telling him he can see a lawyer, if he signs a statement.

At this point, the media spin cycle has hit critical mass. He went from anti-government extremist, to cop hunting sniper, to no big deal, now to Terrorist. The justification for everything, neatly tied in a neat terrorist bow. It will now all fall on that one word. Perhaps that is why, as the Huffington Post reported, his lawyer James Swetz said Frein was not given access to his attorney, nor was he even told he had one.

“I called and invoked his right to counsel and was told I would not be given access to Eric, and Eric would not be told counsel was retained and available to him”

Somewhere in the shuffle of news cycles, we learned the U.S. Marshals took the blame for the shape Mr. Frein’s face was in. Despite all reports stating he surrendered, the U.S. Marshal said “sometimes they have to take ‘drastic measures‘, reported WNEP.

“Sometimes when we take people into custody we have to take drastic measures. Especially when he killed a fellow officer, we weren’t messing around.”

Somehow, apparently, that makes it okay.

Even if this is true, and Eric Frein really felt he was “starting a revolution, he couldn’t be disturbed? Mentally ill? Of course not. Thin blue line. He’s a cop killer! Wait, is he not innocent until proven guilty? He is suppose to be, and I hate to sound like a broken record, but this keeps getting lost in translation.

As mentioned in my last OpEd on Eric Frein, these are in no way police hit pieces. In our quest for justice we cannot be bias either way. Unfortunately, the lefties and big Ds might cry “evil, rotten police. They’re murderers!” and the big R’s might say “those turror-ists and rotten criminals should rot!”.

We also keep chasing the “everything’s racist” band wagon, and continue to miss the real point. We allowed ourselves to get caught up with Eric Garner being a black, and the real issue soared right over our heads. The Inquisitr has been reporting on this story.

We do not see constant police brutality and police state-like behavior because we have a racism problem, we see this because we have a big government problem.

If we continue to let mainstream media, race baiters, big Ds and big Rs distract us, there will be no change. We also lack the value of life, and far too often prefer a Deathwish style vigilante sense of justice. Comments on the aforementioned WNEP news story highlight these concerns.

“That’s the least they could have done and now he’ll be brought to justice and that’s what I was hoping for a capture, not a kill.”

“I’m glad he wasn’t killed. Getting your face shoved to the ground is a very small price to pay.”

Lady justice is blind for a reason. Everyone, big or small, black or white, poor or rich, are equal under the law. We must remember that in our quest to punish wrong. All evil is wrong, but not all wrong is evil. Super villains live only in comics and films.

Cop or citizen, all lives matter. The Pennsylvania state trooper murder is a tragedy, but does not give the police carte blanche. If Eric Frein is guilty, than he should face consequences. However, the continual effort by an alarmist media, knee-jerk public, and others to execute one’s character before they are found guilty is a disturbing, growing trend.

Eric Frein is innocent until proven guilty, whether he murdered an average Joe or officer Joe. It is sad that we need to be reminded of this.
