Kardashian Boycott? Kim’s Quickie Marriage Turns Off Viewers

When Paris Hilton brought famous-for-being-famous to US shores (apparently it was big in England for some time), it was always said ignoring her would make her go away.

We tried, as a country, but it didn’t seem to work- she was on TV, not knowing anything about Walmart; she gave the internet herpes with a creepy sex tape called One Night in Paris; she flogged perfume and clothing anything else that would bear her name in every mall in America. And once we were shot of her, it seemed, a new head grew back in her place: Kim Kardashian.

Following the rich-daddy-and-sex-tape formula, the next-gen celebutante and her derriere vaulted into the spotlight, finding a home on E! with a series of vapid reality shows and specials- the apex of that being a multi-million dollar wedding, the planning of which far outlasted her 72-day marriage to NBA free agent Kris Humphries.

It seems the American viewing public has finally had enough of the pseudo-celebrity and her fame-seeking ways, as a Kim Kardashian boycott is in the works amid angry reality TV viewers. It seems the people who go in for this sort of thing are finally tired of Kim and her ass and would like to see both out of the limelight, an online petition would suggest.

Petition creator Cyndy Snider- who, it has to be said, seems to have transposed her vowels- commented on the impetus behind the Kim Kardashian boycott:

“In a grassroots effort, we have collected [thousands of] signatures for a petition asking E! Entertainment to remove the Kardashian suite of shows from their programming… We feel that these shows are mostly staged and place an emphasis on vanity, greed, promiscuity, vulgarity and over-the-top conspicuous consumption.”

Want to add your name to the 11,000 signatures already on the petition? You can sign it here.
