Final Fantasy XIII-2 PC Release Date Announced [Video]

Final Fantasy fans can rejoice as another addition to the epic game saga joins the ranks. Square Enix uploaded the official trailer for the PC download of Final Fantasy XIII-2 today, exactly one month before the game’s release date on December 11.

Final Fantasy XIII, the beginning of the series, was brought to the PC world in October, four years after its debut on consoles. However, fans were disappointed when that Final Fantasy chapter came with little to no graphics options, meaning the game was only playable in 720p. Fans were left to find other ways to appease their graphic needs, such as using modifications for the game.

However, developers of the Final Fantasy games are working hard to please fans, and will be upgrading the graphics options in December.

Now, XIII will soon be followed by the second installment of the series and Final Fantasy fans are crossing their fingers that Square Enix learned from their mistakes.

And it looks like they have, as the trailer promises “a host of new features and enhancements.”

What are those new features? And are they really enhanced?

Final Fantasy XIII-2 will boast a 60fps refresh rate and a user friendly ability to customize resolution from 720p, 1080p, and so on. It’s a fantasy come true for PC players, who were forced to use lower settings, to have the options for high definition game play.

If the trailer is representation of these graphics options then fans will love it. The clouds look almost real!

The PC version of Final Fantasy XIII-2 will include the downloadable content that is available for its console counterpart. The game was originally released in Japan in December 2011 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and became available in the U.S. in early 2012.

As an added plus, XIII-2 players will be able to choose between English and Japanese voice overs (with subtitles). Thus, giving the users options that were not seen in its predecessor.

Even Twitter has come alive with the news with Final Fantasy, posting screenshots of the game:

The critically acclaimed third, and final, installment to the trilogy, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, will be seeing its own PC download in Spring 2015.

Fans may have to wait to play the game but they do not have to wait to order. Final Fantasy XIII-2 can be pre-ordered from Steam for $17.99, at a discounted price, or purchased on December 11 at $19.99. Hopefully this Final Fantasy won’t disappoint.
