WWE News: Rey Mysterio Says ‘No’ To WWE, Plans To Leave Wrestling

As of a few years ago, the WWE wanted to make their Hispanic wrestling the greatest in all of the world. With the additions of Alberto Del Rio, Sin Cara, Hunico, Epico and Rey Mysterio, they wanted the Hispanic demographic to shine. To their credit, WWE did a very nice job of recruiting all of the best talent. Right now, Cara and Kalisto in NXT are one of the most entertaining tag-teams in recent memory.

However, since the Mysterio and Del Rio situations took place, it doesn’t look like they’ll be back in Mexico anytime soon. At least by looking at their schedule of events, a Mexican tour isn’t in their future plans. Does it have anything to do with their recent troubles with Mysterio and Del Rio? The WWE Universe may never know. It’s obviously something that needs addressed and resolved.

Speaking specifically about the Mysterio dilemma, it’s been one of the most ridiculous and ongoing problems in WWE’s history. Rumors came out last week that Mysterio was backstage at Monday Night Raw, presumably to discuss a contract extension. According to E-Wrestling News, he was indeed backstage, but no contract was signed.

“As previously reported, Rey Mysterio met with WWE last week at RAW with Vince McMahon tasking the creative team with coming up with ways to bring him back to WWE TV. However, it appears that isn’t to be. According to sources, Mysterio turned down the offer to return and plans to pursue other ventures once his deal expires in the spring. Rey wants to explore acting options and has no interest in wrestling for AAA, Lucha Underground or WWE.”

Just days after the WWE and Alberto Del Rio announced their joint decision to end things peacefully, Mysterio went ahead and said he wants to leave professional wrestling altogether.

It finally looks like Del Rio and WWE buried the hatchet and cleared the air. Honestly, good for both parties as this situation might have ended very ugly. Now, Del Rio is free to wrestle for whomever he pleases.

Going back to the Mysterio situation, his contract will not be over until Spring of 2015. So, he has four to five months left of sitting in the back and making more appearances. The WWE, pending contractual obligations, should let the former-World Heavyweight champion out of his contract. His t-shirts are selling, but the kids want to see him wrestle. He isn’t one of the best cruiserweights and all-around WWE superstars ever for no reason.

Nobody wants to see someone unhappy when its truly obvious through reports. That seems like an awkward sentence, but think about it. Every single report for the last year about Mysterio is blatantly negative. Sometimes, it is best to let the best walk. Mysterio is willing to ride out the contract. At least, he isn’t CM Punk,. and WWE needs to capitalize on that.
