Meanwhile, GameRevolution pulled the trigger on their Halo 5 multiplayer preview too soon earlier today. The article was pulled down, but a Google cache version of the original article is still available (via NeoGAF).

The article makes a comparison to Call of Duty that will likely inflame some fans. Controversy over Halo 5 has already sprouted up yesterday due to an aesthetic change that makes the new Battle Rifle or DMR look like it uses Aim Down Sights (ADS) just like Call of Duty. However, subsequent leaks showed that the classic Halo style gunplay is still there, and 343 Industries Studio Head Bonnie Ross urged fans to wait for the full reveal.

However, GameRevolution already confirms significant evolutions of Halo gameplay. This includes a boost ability and faster movement overall.

Players will notice quite quickly that first-person shooter mechanics not far removed from Call of Duty have drawn the competitive game just a little closer to the kind of quick reflexes and accuracy normally associated with aiming down sights religiously. Both mobility and persistent zooming, if you will, have received a range of enhancements that greatly speed gameplay with a new boost ability adding to the player’s options for escape in a difficult situation.

343 Industries previously announced that the loadouts from Halo 4 have been done away with as players will start equally. Map control will also return, but it remains to be seen how the faster movement speed, sprint, and boost will alter the style of play.

The screenshots that leaked also reveal some interesting map details. They appear to show constructed models of some older maps in a Holodeck like environment. This is quite different from the Midships map that has been shown in the past. However, the models continue to show heavy Halo 4 influences.

The Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta will feature three modes and three maps of four versus four matches, judging by GameRevolution‘s preview. We’ll have to wait and see more when the official reveal happens tonight. Share your thoughts in the comments below.
