Left 4 Dead 3 Release Date May Be Another Half Life 3

When it comes to a third sequel of any of their popular titles, Valve apparently has some issues. For years, fans hungering for Half-Life 3 have apparently been “left for dead” as there is not an ounce of news anywhere which points to a solid release. Could the Left 4 Dead series be facing the same fate as Half-Life 3?

Counter-Strike co-creator Minh Le had said earlier this year in a new interview that Left 4 Dead 3 is in development and it is coming along well. “So I was really excited when I saw that. I was like ‘Wow, this looks great.’ I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead,” he added according to Gamespot. But that was back in May.

Another piece that set off speculations was a YouTube video posted by Valve, where one of the illustrators accidentally revealed some Left 4 Dead 3 files as she went through her computer.

The first Left 4 Dead title was released in 2008, with the sequel released just a year after. The second game seemed like a good closing point for the franchise but a after a series of leaked images and rumors, like that by Minh Le, had rekindled the possibility of a third title.

Rumors, reported by KDrama Stars, of additions of new infected characters named The Breeder, The Bloody Clown, and The Assassin also arose. Could they be greater than The Tank or The Witch? Or more tricky than The Charger?

As of yet, Valve has not announced any news regarding the release or the development of Left 4 Dead 3 — and most certainly not about Half-Life 3, according to the Christian Post.

Also during the interview with Minh Le, he teased that the much anticipated Half-Life 3 is also indeed in development and he’s seen concept art for it, reported Gamespot.

“There’s like a laser sight on my head right now. I don’t know if I can talk about that, to be honest. I think it’s kind of public knowledge that people know that it is being worked on. So if I were to say I’ve seen some images, like some concept art of it, that wouldn’t be big news. But I guess I could say that I did see something that looked like kind of like in the Half-Life universe. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if I said ‘Yeah, they’re working on it.’ So I mean, to go out on a limb, I would say yeah, I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3. Somebody’s knocking on my door right now [laughs]. It seems like old news. I think everyone kind of knows that it’s being worked on.”

Though Le’s ramblings made no definitive statements, these leaked screenshots of the restructured plantation level from Left 4 Dead 2 show that some work is being done, reported KDrama Stars.

These leaked photos might just keep our hopes up for the possibility of a follow-up game/update.

For Turtle Rock Studios, who worked on the Left 4 Dead series, have been busy making their own game, Evolve. This could be the reason why Left 4 Dead 3 is taking a while to make.

Unless some official announcement is made about the Left 4 Dead 3 release date, fans may have to settle on that it may be a long time before seeing, or sadly that they’re never making, a third title to the Left 4 Dead series.
