Anti-Aging Skin Care… The Natural Way To Retain Your Youth

Anti-aging skin care comes in all shapes and sizes — from bird poop facials and snake venom “Botox” to oozing live snails and having blood injected into your face like Kim Kardashian (I’ll spare you the gory details). The bottom line is that there is a much easier way to get to that promise of a youthful glow, and it doesn’t require potential torture.

You can keep aging skin at bay by simply heading to the store and getting these natural products.

Replace Botox with blueberries

Research has shown that enjoying some blueberries may just be as effective as Botox. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and cranberries are all packed with antioxidants, which save cells from premature aging. For added bonus, a diet rich in blueberry extract improves short-term memory loss – and in another study, proved to reverse some loss of balance and coordination in aging rats. Furthermore, of all the berries, blueberries have the highest amount of antioxidants, which are also said to help prevent cancer and other diseases.

Papaya and its “Benjamin Button” effect

Take years off your face with ripe papaya. An ancient skin care remedy, the tropical fruit has the ability to create radiant skin. Papaya restores that youthful glow to your skin and improves the tone, as well as help to reduce skin spots. Not only that, it also fights free radicals that cause aging and wrinkles — and being rich in vitamins C and E, it further helps to restore the skin’s elasticity.

To make a mask, simply blend a firm but ripe papaya (without the seeds) into a soft paste. Put the paste on your face (preferably when lying down until it dries as it can get runny) and leave it on for 15-20 minutes, then wash it off with warm water. Repeat this mask twice a week to prevent wrinkles and help renew your skin

Cucumber and curd for skin rejuvenation

To help reduce the puffiness and dark circles under the eye, cucumber does the job. It keeps the skin healthy with its soothing effect; and curd contains lactic acid, which has the property of exfoliating the dead cells and helps to rejuvenate the skin. Combine these two into a mask, mixing half-cup curd and two teaspoons of grated cucumber and apply it to the face. Rinse it off with warm water, and use it twice a week to keep those pesky aging signs at bay.

Less lines and wrinkles with avocado

To fight against dry skin, which persists as we age – get some avocado, as it contains a lot of natural oil. Make an avocado mask by mashing it out, then applying it to your face. An avocado face mask fights the natural effects of aging because it contains a lot of Vitamin A. This vitamin is a form of retinol, which helps to boost collagen production and new cell growth. Collagen is responsible for keeping the skin tight, so the more collagen the skin produces, the less visible wrinkles and fine lines will be. Additionally, like blueberries, an avocado face mask will deflect and fight free radicals that can attack healthy skin cells and eventually lead to dark spots on face and skin discoloration.

For that natural glow reach for some coconut milk

Get that radiant skin by taking a raw coconut and squeezing the milk from it. Apply this coconut milk to your face and it is said to give your skin an amazing glow.

Say goodbye to tired eyes with honey

This is quite an effective agent to fight against fine lines around your eyes. Simply apply raw natural honey around the skin of your eyes, leave it on for about 10 minutes, then wash off with warm water. This will help to combat tired looking eyes. Additionally, honey draws out skin impurities and is a natural moisturizer, so it’s an ideal ingredient for a homemade anti-aging skin care recipe. Or you can just apply it all over your face in addition to the skin around your eyes.

Milk does the face good

This is a gentle but effective ingredient for removing dead skin cells. Clinical studies have shown that lactic acid (which is found in milk) helps to generate new skin cells. All that’s required is to put a little milk on your (clean) face before bed at night for a fresh young complexion.

Lemon juice and the fight against age spots

One of the best natural ingredients for lightening the appearance of unwanted age spots and freckles is lemon juice. It is rich in citric and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), which are both known for their skin lightening properties. To erase age spots, apply a few drops of lemon juice every day for up to six weeks, leaving it on for at least 15 minutes before rinsing it off.

A great combination is mixing one teaspoon of lemon juice with one teaspoon of honey, massage it into the skin, and wash it off after 20 minutes. Do this for one month – but be sure to avoid the sun with the use of lemon juice, and if the lemon is too irritating, try adding more honey to the mixture.

Remember, anti-aging skin care does not only require external application but also internal maintenance. So try adding to your diet fruits, nuts, and vegetables such as broccoli, almond, walnut, cabbage, oranges, apples and grapefruit with their amazing anti-aging properties. And you will notice that with a healthy, balanced diet, you won’t have to stick needles of blood under your skin or have snails sliming their way across your face to retain a youthful radiance.
