David Kalac: 4chan Murder Suspect Caught After Allegedly Killing Port Orchard Woman, Posting Photo Online

David Kalac has been apprehended in Portland, one day after police say he killed a Port Orchard woman and posted photos of her dead body online.

Police had been searching for the 33-year-old Kalac in the Portland area on Wednesday, hours after he evaded police in a high-speed chase. He was taken into custody Wednesday night at a TriMet station in Wilsonville.

Officials surrounded a home at close to 8:30 p.m. and were heard shouting through a loudspeaker, “David Kalac, we have a warrant out for your arrest.”

In the early morning hours on Wednesday, Portland police said they spotted Kalac in the city but could not apprehend him:

“Officers initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle but the driver sped away and led police on a high-speed pursuit across the Ross Island Bridge and southbound on Southwest Barbur Boulevard. At approximately Southwest 30th Avenue, the pursuit was terminated as the driver of the suspect vehicle was swerving into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was last seen speeding southbound on Barbur Boulevard passing Taylors Ferry Road.”

Police say David Kalac killed his girlfriend Amber Coplin on Tuesday afternoon, then took a picture of the Port Orchard woman’s dead body and posted it on the image-sharing site 4chan, along with a description of the murder.

“Turns out it’s way harder to strangle someone to death than it looks in the movies,” the first post read.

When other users questioned whether the body was real, Kalac gave specifics of where the crime took place.

“Check the news in Port Orchard, Washington in a few hours. Her son will be home from school soon. He’ll find her and then call the cops. I just wanted to share the pics before they find me.”

Coplin’s body was found by a family member about half an hour later.

The peaceful ending to the manhunt could have gone much worse. David Kalac indicated in his initial 4chan post that he intended to draw police into a shootout to end his own life.

“I bought a BB gun that looks realistic enough,” the user wrote. “When they come, I’ll pull it and it will be suicide by cop. I understand the doubts. Just check the f****** news. I have to lose my phone now.”

Suspected 4chan murderer David Kalac is being held in a local jail, with bail set at $2 million.
