Sylwia Rajchel Selfie: Polish Tourist Tries To Take Selfie, Falls Off Bridge And Dies

Sylwia Rajchel wanted to take a selfie while on a recent trip to Spain, but the unthinkable happened. According to the New York Daily News, Rajchel was on a bridge trying to get the perfect picture of herself when she slipped and fell. Police say that she was “balancing on a ledge” just after midnight when the accident occurred. The 23-year-old nursing student then fell 15 feet, sustaining injuries that led to her death.

“Going to Spain was a dream come true for my daughter. She had taught herself the language and was hoping to work there in the future after finishing her studies. She was a beautiful, smiling girl who had her whole life ahead of her. It’s hard to believe what’s happened, that I will never see Sylvia again. That I won’t hug her and will never be able to tell her how much I love her and how proud I was of her. It breaks my heart, I feel this is nightmare that is not happening,” said the girl’s mother, Bernadeta, who is understandably devastated.

Sylwia Rajchel’s selfie was not worth risking her life.

The brunette did not immediately die after her fall. Although she did go into cardiac arrest, emergency crews said that they were able to revive her and get her to the hospital, but she was not going to make it. Her condition, however, was listed as “grave,” and she died a short time later.

According to Opposing Views, officials in the area are investigating and have said that they are going to do their best to make the city safer for people. Authorities have urged people to use caution when taking selfies and have asked that tourists be mindful of their surroundings at all times.

Sylwia Rajchel was trying to take a selfie on the Puente de Triana bridge in Seville (seen above), which is an extremely popular place for photographs.

Another selfie tragedy was reported by the Inquisitr over the summer. According to the report, a mom and a dad fell 260 feet off of a cliff in Portugal while trying to take a photo of themselves. The married couple’s two children, ages five and six, looked on in shock as their parents dropped into the chilly water below. Coincidentally, the family was also from Poland.
