Upcoming Battlefield 3 patch will nerf tactical lights

DICE have been gearing up to launch Battlefield 3‘s first patch ever since the game has been released, but the developer has been fairly tight-lipped on what we can expect from the patch, and when we can expect it.

Thanks to a tweet from Alan Kertz, we now know of at least one specific change to make it into Battlefield 3‘s first patch, and it involves the tactical flashlight.

As I’m sure all of you Battlefield 3 players are already aware of, the tactical flashlight, in its current iteration, is effective at all distances, regardless of the time of day. While there’s no word on whether or not the tactical flashlight will be adjusted based on the time of day, Kertz tweeted a couple of shots that show the tactical flashlight will be less effective at further ranges.

Naturally, there will be tweaks to guns as well. DICE hasn’t shared specifics and what will be changed, and likely won’t until the patch is nearing release, but you can at least expect a few guns to be knocked down a few pegs.

DICE is also looking into boosting the effectiveness of jets, such as some sort of solution for repairs to make the air vehicle competitive with the chopper, but there’s no specifics on that either, as of yet. Regardless, jet pilots, DICE has heard your cries for help.

Thanks, PC Gamer.
