The McRib Is Made With Real Food and McDonald’s Proves It

The McRib sandwich from McDonald’s only comes to the world a couple of times each year and then the world lashes out in a frenzy. There are the groups that love it and those that despise it and claim it to be made from processed foods and just about anything else you can imagine.

McDonald’s is looking to change the mindset of the latter and they’re doing it by proving that their food is just that…food.

TIME knows that social media has jumped all over McDonald’s in the past, and the company wanted to have their name trending in a good way. With that being said, they decided to put the McRib under the Internet microscope and bust some myths about their limited time sandwich.

In order to do that, McDonald’s brought in a Mythbuster in Grant Imahara. His presence and knowledge was used for a video that set out to disprove such things as horse meat and pink slime being put into their food. One of the latest myths about McDonald’s is that the McRib is nothing more than something that looks like a frozen piece of train track.

McDonald’s video has a self-proclaimed McRib hater in Wes Bellamy hosting, and for those that don’t know, he’s actually one of those that that tweeted out the pic of the frozen patty. As the video goes on and Imahara begins learning the truth behind the McRib, Bellamy appears to be changing his tune.

“This looks a lot different from a picture that I saw on Twitter,” he said. “So that’s how you keep it tasty like my Grandma’s barbecue!”

McDonald’s admits that the McRib only has a few primary components in it such as pork, salt, water, a sugar compound, and some preservatives. The small amount of items keep it real and the preservatives are said to “lock in the flavor.”

Perhaps the McRib won’t be something on your next barbecue menu, but maybe you won’t think twice about trying one at McDonald’s this holiday season.

According to Mashable, it’s obvious that not only is Wes Bellamy sure that the McRib is real food, but so is Imahara. Being able to convince a Mythbuster is something that has proven to be difficult in the past as its known the members of the show really put their all into figuring out what’s true and what isn’t.

While the McRib may still not be the most edible-looking thing in the world to some, at least everyone all now knows that it is safe to eat.

Right?
