‘GTA V’ Officially 1080p For Both PlayStation 4 And Xbox One, 4K Support For PC

Grand Theft Auto V running at 1080p and 30 frames per second (fps) was pretty well assured for the PlayStation 4 based on an earlier report I covered for Inquisitr. Rockstar Games removed all doubt on resolution and frame rate for Sony’s console and the Xbox One following the reveal of the GTA V first-person mode earlier Tuesday. PC owners with the right hardware will get an even bigger bump.

“Alongside the new First Person mode, Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC features hundreds of additions and enhancements including 1080p resolution at 30FPS on PS4 and Xbox One (4K compatible on PC),” Rockstar revealed via its newswire.

The 1080p resolution was expected for the PlayStation 4 given its track record. The Xbox One was less assured due to a history of sub-1080p releases. However, Microsoft has worked heavily with developers to get their games to 1080p over the past year with a list that includes Destiny and Diablo III among others. Even Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare received a significant boost to close to 1080p with smooth gameplay following the disappointing 720p resolution from last year’s Ghosts.

PC owners can go even further with a 4K resolution for GTA V. Of course, they’ll need to drop the money to get a monitor or HDTV that supports 4K and have the necessary graphics card that can support the ultra HD resolution as well.

GTA V (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

The news that GTA V will run at 30 fps is not surprising either. No open world title for either the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One has hit the magical 60 fps mark and we likely won’t see it this generation. The demands on the CPU are too high and neither console features a particularly beefy processor.

GTA V hits the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 18. The PC version of the game will arrive January 27 due to extra time needed for polishing. Don’t forget that your existing PS3 or Xbox 360 GTA Online character can be transferred over to any of the new platforms via the Rockstar Social Club.

The new GTA V platforms will see exclusive content in addition to the first-person mode. There’s also the host of other additions to the game.

  • New weapons, vehicles and activities
  • Additional wildlife
  • Denser traffic
  • New foliage system
  • Enhanced damage and weather effects, and much more

Additionally, ‘Grand Theft Auto Online’ will now support up to 30 players on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. There’s no word on what the PC version will handle yet.

Owners of all three new ‘GTA V’ versions will find plenty of new music to listen to, however. The game’s 17 radio stations will add over 100 additional new songs and DJ mixes.

Those that pre-order GTA V for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC will also find extra cash in their in-game bank accounts. An extra GTA$500k will be available in both the Story Mode and GTA Online for a total of GTA$1 million.
