Parents Tell Kids They Ate All The Halloween Candy – Responses Are Wild [Video]

What comes after a sugar high? A sugar crash, of course – and these kids certainly came crashing down after being told that their parents had eaten all of their Halloween candy.

In what has become a sort of post-Halloween tradition, Jimmy Kimmel asked parents to tell their children that they ate all of their Halloween candy, and to submit the videoed responses to Jimmy Kimmel Live! This was the fourth year in a row.

The results, to say the least, are pretty wild. The reaction from the kids, upon learning that their parents ate their Halloween haul, range from sweet to violent, but generally fall into one of three categories: the good, the funny and the furious.

As for the sweet moments, one very concerned little boy solemnly tells his mother, “You must have a bellyache.” Then there is the little boy who holds back his tears and tells his mother, “It’s okay.” And the little girl who smiles, shakes it off, and says, “We’ll get some more next time” in such a way that you want to give her all the candy in the world. The little boy who takes the cake? He gestures in a comforting manner, nods to his mother gamely, and reassures her that “it’s fine” before hugging her in forgiveness.

Then there are the funny moments, as one girl responds to her mother’s excuse that she was very hungry with, “Eat an apple!” Or the little girl who says repeatedly, “I told you! You can never, ever, ever listen about candy!”

And then there are the kids who don’t take the idea of mom and dad sneaking all their Halloween candy well at all. One little girl begins throwing things – including a kitchen chair. Another girl shockingly exclaims, “F*ck you, motherf*cker!” There are plenty of tears and wails and cries of “You ruined my life!”

The trauma of losing all the Halloween candy (even just momentarily) is supposed to be for a good cause, however. Jimmy Kimmel used the idea and the clips to highlight Operation Gratitude, an organization that annually sends 150,000+ care packages to new military recruits, veterans, first responders, wounded warriors, and deployed U.S. service members. Kids can also send some of their Halloween candy to U.S. military members through this organization, which, once they find out their parents didn’t really eat all of it, they may be willing to do.

Preferably without any cussing or chair-throwing involved.
