Flight Attendant Stabbed To Death By Boyfriend After Letting Him Meet Her Family
Flight attendant Kelly Turner was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend Joseph Karr during his first visit to meet her family.
Daily Mail reports that the 52-year-old man flew from California to visit Turner’s family in Austin, Texas. Karr is suspected of murdering the 43-year old Southwest Airlines flight attendant during the same trip.
According to KXAN, Kelly Turner was enjoying a night out with her friends and Joseph Karr at a bar. Shortly after they returned home, the friends say that they “heard [Kelly] screaming.”
When the friends went to see what was wrong with Kelly, they found Karr.
According to their statement, Karr was “holding a knife and said, ‘I can’t believe I killed her.'”
Police say that was when he took off.
Kelly Turner’s body was found by police on Saturday morning. According to Daily Mail, Joseph Karr was arrested shortly after the discovery was made when they found him in a nearby field.
Kelly’s family members have stated that Karr ate dinner with them on Wednesday after arriving to Texas. Barbara Shannon, Turner’s older sister, stated in an interview with KVUE that the dinner was the last time that she and her sister were together. When observing her sister’s boyfriend, Shannon stated that she did not find anything about him that disturbed her.
“I didn’t pick up on anything that disturbed me, I noticed he was quiet, he was very quiet.”
When reflecting on her sister, Shannon mentioned Kelly’s beautiful smile that “lit up the room.”
“That beautiful smile. When she walked into a room she just lit up the room with her smile. She always saw something good in every person.”
According to KXAN, the murder of Kelly Turner was the fourth homicide that occurred in Austin, Texas within an eight-day period.
Turner graduated from Westlake High School and then studied at The University of Texas in Austin. While she worked as a flight attendant for Southwest, Kelly was able to fly all over the country.
On Sunday, Southwest Airlines sent a memo to all flight attendants. Within the body of the memo, a supervisor wrote that Kelly, a longtime member of the Southwest Airlines family, “was loved by many and will be greatly missed.”
Joseph Karr is currently being held in Travis County Jail and faces first-degree murder charges.
