Surprise returns always get the best out of the WWE Universe. Whether it is Chris Jericho returning at the Royal Rumble or Dave Batista coming back from a long hiatus to wrestle as a heel, the crowd will cheer no matter what. Last night on Monday Night Raw, a surprise guest returned to electrify the crowd; the way nobody else is able to in history. He’s one of the most controversial and influential figures in WWE history. On top of it all, he owns the company.
Vince McMahon made his illustrious return to WWE television last night with the Authority to kick off Raw. His music opened up and the titantron played McMahon’s video, which the crowd then continued to cheer even louder.
If it wasn’t enough that McMahon returned in general, but he did more than just hit his entrance music and walk down the ramp in classic-McMahon style. Alongside Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, Vinnie Mac dropped a bombshell on them and the WWE Universe.
“He plugged the WWE Network and how Survivor Series is free.
“Vince then announced that if Team Authority loses to Team Cena at Survivor Series, then The Authority will no longer be in power.”
Leave it to a McMahon to change things around here. The last two installments of Monday Night Raw contained moments of creativity and great wrestling matches. My personal opinion remains with the fear of Seth Rollins getting hurt. If he continues to work two matches a night and wrestle countless live shows, there will be a price to pay. Unfortunately, it will be the ultimate price of a severe injury. Nobody can work the way he does and not get injured.
He is a freak athlete yes, but the body isn’t made to handle such punishment. Remember, the night after he went through a grueling Hell in a Cell match, he wrested John Cena in a match that lasted over 15 minutes.
Anyway, McMahon inserted his impact onto WWE TV in the best way. His character allowed the Authority to feel under the pressure of a higher-power. After all of the months of planning that the Authority is the ultimate power, McMahon came in as a babyface to ensure they are vulnerable after all.
This comes after McMahon announced that the WWE Network will be free for the entire month of November and that includes the Survivor Series pay-per-view. Is this the return of Vince McMahon as an on-screen character? Time will tell, but when it’s time for the Authority to go down, Vince McMahon will be behind it all the way.
