Alex From Target Fired? Article Says Teen Sensation Was Sacked For Being Internet Famous

Alex from Target has officially taken over the Internet. From being just your everyday Target employee, the teen was able to captivate our hearts in a Bieber-ish manner when his iconic item-scanning photo made its rounds online, making him an instant Internet star. Alex’s photo is all over social media, accompanied by the currently trending #AlexFromTarget. Gaining thousands of followers by the hour, Alex’s follower count is currently sitting at half a million, making him one of the most followed non-celebrity on Twitter.

Shortly after Alex from Target became an Internet sensation, a few publications have taken advantage of the hype. One report, opening with the shocking premise “Alex From Target Fired”, was able to lure in Twitter teens, many of whom are gullible enough to believe anything they read on the ‘net. The report, originating from the website Huzlers, says Alex from Target was fired primarily because of his quick rise to fame. The website quotes the kid’s “supervisor”, who allegedly dismissed the teenager for his newfound Internet popularity.

“Alex is a good kid and all but this is ridiculous, I mean, can we really trust teenage girls? they brought fame to Justin Bieber for Christ’s sake. We do not need negative attention and thousands of teenage girls coming to my store and creating havoc over Alex. Besides, Alex isn’t even all good looking, It was the angle in which the photo was taken”.

Unsurprisingly, the article brought unimaginable grief to Alex’s admirers, most of whom have been loyal and dedicated fans of the teen for the past few hours. Only a few realized that Huzlers is actually a satirical website. They’re also responsible for ridiculous Onion-esque headlines such as “Bill Gates Offers Young Thug $9,000,000 Cash To Stop Making Music” and “McDonalds CEO Admits To Using Dog Meat In Their Burgers”.

So, was Alex from Target fired? Doubtful. In fact, Alex has brought in massive amounts of pride (and PR) for Target. A company executive for Target, Molly Snyder, expressed to Huffington Post her excitement over their employee’s newfound fame.

“Imagine our surprise yesterday when one of our Target team members managed to flood the Internet with images of red and khaki without even trying. We are proud to have a great team, including #AlexFromTarget.”

Target’s official Twitter even posted a relevant #AlexfromTarget photo to keep up with the sensation.

Alex’s response to his Internet fame is surprisingly calm. A few hours ago, the popular teen posted a tweet of gratitude to all his fans who have showed him online love during the past few hours.

Celebs have also taken the time out of their day to join the bandwagon. Rapper Hoodie Allen says he feels #blessed to have Alex from Target as one of his followers, while Ellen DeGeneres is making her presence known to the latest teen sensation, hinting on a future episode with Alex from Target on the show.
