Gamers who purchased digital copies of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare for the PlayStation 4 may have found themselves experiencing issues trying to pre-load the game. The issue has been confirmed by Sony, and the company has released a troubleshooting guide on their support page.

“If you pre-loaded CoD: AW and you’re experiencing issues with the game, you must delete all pre-load files from your system and re-download all Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare content. Please ensure you download all available updates for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and your system is running the latest system software.”

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is one of a number of recent console games taking a cue from the PC gaming community in allowing gamers to download the game prior to its actual release date. Even though the game is set to release tomorrow, as detailed in the Inquisitr’s weekly New Video Game Release lists, the files are downloaded to the console ahead of time. The game is then unlocked once the official launch date arrives, or in the case of the Advanced Warfare pre-loading, the 24-hour early access for certain pre-order customers.

The problem is not only isolated to the PlayStation 4, as Xbox users are also voicing similar problems for their digital copies of Cal of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The issue is affecting both Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners. IGN reported on the issue that is affecting a “wide range” of Xbox owners after a sub-reddit started for the issue.
