Racing fans can watch the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Classic live online and see which horse takes the $5 million purse in the final event of the horse racing season.
There will be plenty on the line when the horses line up at Santa Anita Park, including a possible chance at redemption for California Chrome, the horse that finished just short of a Triple Crown this year. The main event is scheduled to start at 8:35 p.m.
But fans who watch the Breeders’ Cup live online will see more than just the main event. There are also eight other races, each with a purse of at least $1 million. The first race kicks off at 3:05 p.m.
After California Chrome lost in the Belmont Stakes, and with that lost the chance at a Triple Crown, the horse took 105 days off before competing in the Pennsylvania Derby. It finished sixth, but trainer Art Sherman said the horse would come back stronger.
Sherman said to (via Jerry Bossert of the New York Daily News), “I’m almost sure he needed the race the other day at Parx. He didn’t have the greatest trip in the world with his style of running but I’m making no excuses. He came out of the race in one piece and he’ll fight another day. I think you will see a different Chrome this time.”
Those who watch the 2014 Breeders’ Cup live online will see some others with a good chance of knocking off California Chrome. One of the other favorites is Shared Belief, who comes into the race undefeated and a big win in the Grade 1 Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita on his resume. Shared Belief lost a chance to show his stuff at the Triple Crown due to injury, but has now become a tough competitor.
Another contender is Bayern, who won the Pennsylvania Derby.
