Meth Maker’s Own Dog Helps Police Bust Him

They say a dog is man’s best friend, but the friendship comes with a variety of conditions, one of them being a strong bond and the other being loyal companionship. Evidently, these conditions of owning a dog proved the downfall for a drug maker and seller, when his own dog snitched on him and even helped bust him after cops came knocking on the door.

A suspected methamphetamine (meth) maker and dealer was arrested because his pet dog helped the police. A team of police, who had been gathering intelligence on Edwin Henderson, came to the conclusion that he had been making methamphetamine at his residence in Alabama. After painstakingly collecting evidence against Henderson, the team was ready to barge in.

Police in Prattville, Alabama, reached the residence of Henderson to serve a search warrant. When he realized he would be arrested due to the meth lab sitting inside his house, Henderson took off. The meth producer chose to jump the fence and ran straight into a ravine behind his house that had unrestricted tall grass growing. Unfortunately for Henderson, his dog named Bo was a dedicated pet, and officers played a hunch when they said to the dog: “Go get him.”

Bo immediately took after his master, who was well beyond visible range by now. But the dog, picking up on his master’s scent, skillfully gave chase. Police Department spokeswoman Paula Barlow says Bo started running after his master when one of the officers asked the dog to go find his master, reported ABC News.

Though Henderson was neatly hidden in the tall grass, Bo stopped and started vigorously wagging his tail, giving away Henderson’s location to the police, reported My Fox Chicago. The two drug officers, who had gone to search and later arrest Henderson, didn’t have to chase the culprit hard, since his dog had just helped them nab him.

Realizing he has been done in by his own pet dog, Henderson surrendered. Barlow says Henderson is charged with failure to obey police, manufacturing a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. At this point, it is unclear whether Henderson has an attorney who will represent him. However, no one has yet come forward to adopt and take care of Bo, since his master is sure to face a lengthy jail-time.

While locals are applauding the dog, police speculate the dog merely thought Henderson was playing a game of hide-and-seek with him and with some prodding from a police officer, happily gave chase and eventually helped bust him.
