Ricki Lake Files For Divorce, Wants To Pay Spousal Support
Former talk show host and actress Ricki Lake has officially filed for divorce from Christian Evans, according to a report released by TMZ on Wednesday.
Based on the report, Ricki Lake cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason why she decided to file for divorce, ending her marriage to jewelry designer Christian Evans which lasted more than two years.
Even though citing “irreconcilable differences” is a common trend in most celebrity divorces, Ricki Lake also decided to do something that is not very common at all by agreeing to pay her future ex-husband spousal support.
According to TMZ, Ricki Lake “checked the box requesting to pay Evans spousal support.”
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, rumors of Ricki Lake kicking her husband out of the house and wanting to divorce him have been circulating for quite some time. Christian Evans allegedly did not even call Ricki Lake on her birthday after he decided to take a trip out of the country without her.
The 47-year old actress officially separated from her husband on October 9 and filed for a divorce one week later, according to People magazine.
Ricki Lake first started dating Christian Evans during the summer months of 2010. Even though she admitted in an interview to People magazine that Christian was “a nobody” in Hollywood, he was a “somebody” to her. As a matter of fact, Ricki went as far as saying that Christian was “everything” to her.
“”I’m totally in love. We’re having so much fun. I’m happier than I’ve ever been.”
Instead of being “totally in love,” Ricki Lake admitted in a recent post on her official Twitter page that she has found at least one benefit of “heartbreak.”

Lake and Evans got engaged in August 2011 and decided to secretly elope in April of the following year.
If Ricki Lake and Christian Evans decide to have their divorce finalized, it would be the second failed marriage for the Hairspray actress.
Lake was married to her first husband, Rob Sussman, from March of 1994 to August of 2003 when they officially separated. Their divorce was finalized in 2005.
Even though she did not think that she would find love again after her marriage to Sussman failed, Ricki Lake was pleasantly surprised when Christian Evans came into her life.
“I’m so cynical after my experience. But this is just so natural and easy. I’m with a man who doesn’t feel threatened. He doesn’t want to keep me down. And I’ve never been treated like this in my life.”
Further reports show that Ricki and Christian did have a prenuptial agreement established before they got married, which should make it easier for them to split up their shared assets and property.
