Tom Hanks Divorce: Reps Deny Marital Troubles As Rumors Of A Split Grow

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have been facing divorce rumors after insiders claimed Rita’s music aspirations created tension in the marriage, but reps for the couple are now trying to downplay the reports.

Earlier this month, sources close to the couple claimed that Rita Wilson’s music ambitions were getting in the way of their marriage.

“He secretly fears this his wife’s growing ambitions could be disastrous for their relationship,” an unnamed source told Star Magazine. “Rita is hoping to tour the country next year. Tom doesn’t want her gone for that long, but she’s tired of her career taking a backseat to his.”

Now reps for Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have moved in swiftly, denying the divorce reports. Gossip Cop, which has a reputation for taking on reports from Star Magazine, spoke to a rep for Wilson who called the report “utter nonsense” and “absurd.” A rep for Tom Hanks laughed off the divorce story, the outlet added.

Others close to the couple had claimed that Tom was supportive of Rita’s efforts in music, which have been a lifelong dream for her. On her website, Wilson said that she fell in love with groups like The Beatles and Janis Joplin in the 1960s and 70s, and even took a job at what was then known as the Universal Amphitheatre to see acts like Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell, and The Eagles.

“I would watch these artists on stage and ache from wondering, ‘How can I get up there?’ How can I get to do that? ” Wilson recalls. “I had no idea how. I was a first generation American. We didn’t know anyone in the music industry. Acting and modeling kind of happened to me. I went with the flow because the opportunity was terrific and I could make a living, but I thought you had to play an instrument and be able to write songs to be a singer like so many of the ones I admired.”‘

This was not the first time that Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks faced divorce rumors. This summer, reports claimed that Tom and Rita had been living separately, and only reunited after a vacation to Greece together.
