Vatican Claims Halloween Is ‘Evil’ And Should Be Replaced By ‘Holyween’

As children everywhere put the final touches to their Halloween costumes, in anticipation of one of the funnest days of the year, the Church in its usual fashion has put a dampener on things by claiming that Halloween is “evil” and should be abolished.

Following the Vatican’s first conference of exorcists in Rome last weekend, priests are warning that kids in particular are in danger on Halloween as there is an increase in occult activity associated with the day.

Father Aldo Buonaiuto, from the International Association of Exorcists said that a spike in demonic possessions in October is down to the phenomenon of Halloween, as his organization’s emergency hotline apparently receives more calls over the Halloween period than at any other time of the year, with calls coming in at around 40 per day.

Father Aldo told reporters, as per a Daily Mail report from today.

“Many say Halloween is a simple carnival, but in fact there is nothing innocent or fun about it – it is the antechamber to something much more dangerous. There are always more evil rituals, animal sacrifices, desecrations of cemeteries and thefts of sacred bones at the time of the 31 October. For the sects it is the best time of year to recruit new members. From here the door to the devil can be opened. For this reason its necessary for us to speak out and not play down the danger.”

In order to fight against the Halloween holiday, which is loved and celebrated by many people, the Catholic Church in Italy is reportedly launching an initiative to change Halloween to “Holyween,” a day in which children are encouraged to pray and worship God.

“While most people are seeped in zombies and horror we put on our door or windows a light or an image evocative of the saints. And then there will be masses, prayer vigils and worship to celebrate the saints and victory of good over evil.”

The conference in Rome over the weekend saw the coming together of exorcists from around the world, having been given the green light by the Vatican back in June.
