Hear What George Clooney’s Best Friend Thinks Of Amal

George Clooney and Rande Gerber are more than entrepreneurial partners — the two men own a tequila company, and they have been best friends for many years. When Clooney decided to tie the knot after a lengthy bachelorhood, it was Gerber who reportedly acted as best man. Now, Gerber — also known as Cindy Crawford’s husband — is telling People what he thinks about Clooney’s new wife Amal.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Gerber has nothing but praise for the new Mrs. Clooney. Gerber told the magazine that Amal is appealing, and that she and George are a strong match.

“She’s really perfect for him. She’s smart and she’s beautiful, engaging. She is, again… smart, but she doesn’t make you feel stupid! She’s a great girl, and together I think they can do some incredible things.”

Although Gerber did not tell People whether he is giving his old friend relationship advice — which Clooney’s fellow actor Julia Roberts apparently has done — but he expressed joy that George has finally decided to settle down.

“I’ve been friends with George probably half my life. And it’s just great that he found someone.”

If Clooney did need tips on how to keep his new marriage on solid footing, he might do well to speak to Gerber. He and Crawford have been married since 1998 and have two children, Presley and Kaia, who are 15 and 13, respectively.

Cindy and Rande were among the celebrity well-wishers who attended George and Amal’s wedding celebrations in Venice, Italy, last month. Other notable attendees included Matt Damon and Emily Blunt.

Meanwhile, Amal’s parents are hosting a large party for the new couple to celebrate their recent marriage. People reports the lengthy guest list, which includes Amal’s family and friends, includes more than 200 names — more than attended the wedding itself. The event is taking place in London at Danesfield House, which is located on 65 acres of gardens.

A family member told People it is a joyous celebration that will welcome George into the Alamuddin fold.

“We’re so proud to have George in the family that I’m traveling from Beirut to London just to kiss him and say, ‘Welcome!'”

The invitation, a photo of which appeared on the People website, states the event is to “celebrate the marriage of Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney.” Celebrity-watchers may take note of the fact that Amal is listed first on the invitation and called by her unmarried name. Recently it was reported that Alamuddin is now known as Amal Clooney, upsetting some of her admirers.
