Katherine Moennig: Evan Rachel Wood’s New Girlfriend Met Her Through Twitter

Katherine Moennig and Evan Rachel Wood have made it official — and they may have Twitter to thank for making their relationship happen.

After weeks of rumors that the two actresses were now dating, the couple made their first public appearance, snuggling close while waiting for their car outside a store in West Hollywood, California.

Photographers captured the couple in a cozy embrace, and E! News filled in some of the details about their first official sighting together as a couple:

“Wood, 27, and Moennig, 36, grabbed a bite to eat at Real Food Daily last night. After their meal, the cute couple were snapped hugging outside while waiting for their car. While they kept their PDA to a minimum, the duo seemed to be very comfortable as Moennig wrapped her arms around Wood. The couple, who were coordinating in black outfits, were also holding hands.”

Rumors began circulating that Katherine Moennig and Evan Rachel Wood were dating shortly after Wood split from husband Jamie Bell in May. The two fed into the rumors a bit, with a flirtatious exchange months before on Twitter that appeared to kick off their relationship.

“Just saw @katemoenning at a flea market. I turned to mush and ran. Love her!!” Wood tweeted in February 2013.

“@evanrachelwood you should have said hi :),” Moenning messaged back.

It wasn’t clear if Wood and Moenning had known each other before the exchange, or possibly if the interaction was meant to conceal a relationship that had already started.

Wood split suddenly with Bell in May, nine months after the birth of their son. Sources say they have remained friends, and are dedicated to keeping the relationship amicable for the sake of their son.

Evan Rachel Wood’s relationship with Katherine Moennig is the first public relationship with a woman since Wood came out as bisexual in 2011.
