Will Smith’s ‘Hitch’ Coming To Fox As A TV Series

Is Will Smith bringing Hitch to a TV set near you? It sure looks like he is.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Fox television is currently gearing up to present Hitch as a comedy series. As you might have guessed, this will be based on the very successful 2005 romantic comedy of the same title that starred Will Smith, Kevin James and Eva Mendes.

As of right now, Hitch the television series is being set up as a single camera comedy. The show is described as, “a workplace comedy that explores dating and sexual politics.”

It sounds awfully similar to the plot of the 2005 film but we don’t know whether or not the love guru will be named Hitch like the character Smith played. What we do know is Will and Jada Smith will be executive producers of the show through their Overbook Entertainment banner.

As for the script, Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont, who are responsible for Can’t Hardly Wait, Surviving Christmas and Made of Honor, are writing the script for the Hitch series.

For those who aren’t aware, Hitch sees Will Smith as a love guru, coaching helpless men through their various dating woes. In the film, the title character takes on Kevin James as a client, and instead of completely transforming James, he learns a thing or two from him while lending a helping hand.

This isn’t the first film to television series adaptation. Just this year ABC has Selfie, which is the modern take on the film My Fair Lady. If you’re not into that premise or Hitch, Monster In Law is coming to television and Fox also has Marley & Me and Big in development.

So far, people seem to be excited about the new series coming to Fox.
