40-Year Old Andrea Giesbrecht Charged With Hiding Six Dead Babies In Storage Locker

Winnipeg police have confirmed that the bodies of six dead babies were found inside of an abandoned U-Haul storage locker Monday night.

According to The Star, 40-year old Andrea Giesbrecht is allegedly responsible and was arrested in North Winnipeg outside of her home. Constable Eric Hofley stated that Giesbrecht is currently facing six charges of concealing a body as well as one charge of breaching her probation.

The bodies of the dead babies were originally discovered by U-Haul employees, according to the Huffington Post. Razmin Mansoub, the marketing company president for U-Haul Company of Central Canada, told the Winnipeg Free Press that the employees were conducting an “inventory of a delinquent storage locker on Monday.”

“U-Haul team members made a disturbing discovery when taking inventory of a delinquent storage locker on Monday. They immediately contacted law enforcement who believed the locker contained human remains… U-Haul is deeply shocked and saddened by this discovery.”

Due to the state of the remains when they were discovered on Monday night, police were not able to initially determine how many bodies were found inside of the storage locker. As of now, the ages of the babies are still unknown. However, according to Constable Hofley, “they are believed to have been newborns.”

“The forensics that are going to be involved in this investigation, they’re numerous. It will be a long time before we’re able to answer these questions — if at all.”

Andrea Giesbrecht was arrested initially on murder charges. However, according to her lawyer Greg Brodsky, those are not the charges that were filed in court.

Const. Hofler also confirmed in his own statement that no homicide charges have been filed at this time and that no other suspects are being interviewed by police. However, Hofler further stated that “nothing is ruled out.”

“Nothing is ruled out until all the information has been gathered and processed. But, at this point, this is what is known and these are the charges that are appropriate at this time.”

The fact that homicide charges have not been filed could very well indicate that the forensic investigation and autopsies have not yet been completed and confirmed. According to Hofler, the forensic analysis and autopsies are “really important” and have to be conducted “in order to determine where this case is going.”

The breaching of Andrea Giesbrecht’s probation is related to “previous incidents of fraud,” according to Review Journal. Further reports show that Giesbrecht defrauded a 73-year neighbor by paying back a loan with bounced checks.
