Mac Fans Of The Sims 4 Afraid Their Turn Might Never Come

When The Sims 4 for PC was released in September, Mac fans were left to wonder when it would be their turn to play the first new The Sims game in five years. However, despite a flurry of expectation, the only recent concrete piece of news for Mac fans of The Sims has been in the form of a one-line blurb deep in the valley of a jolly green update released in early October on EA’s Sims site.

According to Sims 4 executive producer Rachel Franklin, “We know our players on Mac are looking to hear more [about the pending release date for The Sims 4 for Mac]. We are working on it. When we have more to share, we’ll bring the news to you right here.”

The PC version of The Sims 4, created by EA Maxis (NASDAQ:EA), has received nearly universal mediocre reviews thus far.

With comparisons being made to the failures in last year’s SimCity 2013, which somewhat notoriously also got mostly lackluster reviews, fans would seem to be hoping that the release of The Sims 4 for Mac will bring with it all the bells and whistles lacking in the original PC version.

Jonathan Leack of Crave Online, for example, touted The Sims 4 as a bold venture, what with vast improvements such as Create-A-Sim which allow players to be truly inventive in their creation of characters. However, he also noted several features (or omissions thereof) that have left reviewers feeling that for every step forward, there have been two steps backward in the struggle to achieve Sims 4 greatness.

“Sadly, The Sims 4 has made a misstep akin to that of SimCity 2013. It improves the franchise’s formula in important ways, but leaves a lot of what made previous games so rich and satisfying behind.”

EA’s Franklin assured fans that there will be several upcoming updates and patches to the PC version of Sims 4 which will enhance the player experience within the game. All of them are reportedly to be included in the pending Sims 4 Mac version.

Updates to The Sims 4 are said to include the addition of Ghosts, Star Wars costumes, and, perhaps the most highly anticipated Sims favorite of all, swimming pools.

What do you fervently pray will be included in The Sims 4 for Mac? What do you figure is the delay in the release of the Mac version?
