‘Star Wars’ Prequels Cut, Combined Together Into One Simpler Story [Video]

If you are a new fan to Star Wars and want to begin your experience starting with Episode I it may seem daunting, so a new cut of the prequels could be your best option. This two-hour-long video does a pretty good job to cut through to the chase and give you a synopsis of what the prequels are all about.

You may not have the time or patience to sit through three films that last about two hours each and, if you’re not a huge fan of the Star Wars prequels like many others aren’t, then this may be just the thing for you. After the massive success of the original trilogy, Episodes I, II, and III were received with lukewarm enthusiasm by many.

But if you want to understand the saga in its entirety, then you should probably watch the whole thing, especially now that Star Wars Episode VII is coming to theaters next year. A couple of years ago Topher Grace — who is known for his role on That 70s Show — came up with an even shorter version, an 85-minute cut of the prequels that told us the basics of the trilogy.

Double Digit made a version called Turn to the Dark Side: Episode 3.1 based on Grace’s video and put together something that made sense. At the time, Grace only shared his Star Wars video with some friends and press, so there isn’t a video to watch — for now.

The main purpose of Double Digit was to put out a stronger back story, especially when it came to Anakin Skywalker, who many complained wasn’t the focus of the prequels as much as he should have been. Their video cut attempted to look more closely at Anakin and Padmé Amidala’s relationship and what made him turn to the Dark Side.

Even though this video is still almost three hours long, it’s worth watching just to see if the final product makes sense and explains the prequels better. It still has the holes the original Star Wars films do but there’s nothing to do about that, and for fans who are eagerly anticipating Episode VII it may make the time pass faster until the Abrams film comes to theaters on December 18, 2015.

Take a look at this new cut of the Star Wars prequels and let us know what you think about it (before it’s taken down). Does it look better than the originals? Which is your favorite trilogy?
