Joan Rivers Millions: Melissa Rivers Inherits $100 Million From Mom’s Estate

Joan Rivers was worth quite a few million at the time of her tragic death back in September, and now that money has been inherited by her daughter, Melissa. According to Yahoo! News, Melissa Rivers will be in control of over $100 million in money and assets left to her in her mom’s will. Melissa’s son, Cooper, has also received a portion of his grandmother’s fortune.

“Melissa will inherit $75 million in cash and Joan’s French-inspired $35 million condo on New York’s Upper East Side. Her son Cooper, 13, has received his own bequest,” shared a source.

Joan Rivers’ millions do not make Melissa feel any better or worse about her mother’s death. In fact, Melissa would be the first person to tell you that she would give up every last dime just to have her mother back. It has been almost two months since Rivers was taken off of life support at a hospital in New York, and time has not yet made this any easier for the Rivers’ family. On Oct. 16, Rivers released a very short statement following the news of her mom’s cause of death.

“We continue to be saddened by our tragic loss. No further comment at this time,” Melissa said. According to Contact Music, the former Fashion Police host died of “predictable surgical complications” during minor surgery.

A source close to Melissa said that the inheritance is “no consolation for losing her mother so soon.”

Joan Rivers had a million reasons to live, and she really loved everything that she was a part of; from her fashion line on QVC to her stand-up comedy appearances. Joan loved spending time with her family as well, and she and her daughter were especially close. Their friendship is likely what Melissa will miss the most.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Melissa Rivers has plans to sue the medical clinic where her mom underwent surgery. Melissa is not doing this for the money, however, but to ensure that this sort of thing doesn’t happen to anyone else.

“It’s become very clear to Melissa and experts she has spoken to that her mother didn’t have to die. This was a routine endoscopy that went wrong. Melissa has also been told that staff members at Yorkville Endoscopy revealed a shocking detail to medical investigators looking into Joan’s death — something occurred during the procedure that wasn’t medically related.”
