Nanny Abuses 22-Month-Old Boy: Toddler’s Signs Of Distress Noticed By Mother, Nanny-Cam Proved Why [Video]

The first day a nanny-cam began recording what goes on when mom’s not home turned into a harsh reality. An unsuspecting nanny abuses a 22-month-old boy when she grows impatient with him. Gina Marie Halliburton of Mentone, California was arrested on felony child abuse charges.

ABC News 7 reports that Shawna Scott of Redlands, California captured footage of her toddler son being mistreated by Halliburton back in April. Disturbingly, the 27-year-old had been responsible for Preston’s care since 2013. The video above shows the incident. Preston’s mother describes how the nanny the nanny abused her son with a bib.

“She was upset and yelled at him, and she walked over and she took his bib and she stuffed it in his mouth and held it there, and then walked away.”

Scott is sharing this information publicly now because she doesn’t want another family to go through what she has with her child. She also saw news about a nanny who was arrested earlier this month for abusing 1-year-old twins by shaking one of them and holding her hand over their mouths. The Inquisitr wrote on this story a few days ago.

Shawna Scott had no idea her nanny was capable of this kind of treatment towards her son and was about to reward her with higher pay.

“She had been with us a year. We were considering a raise.”

Scott and law enforcement want people to know it’s important to install a nanny-cam if you have a care provider or nanny in your house responsible for your children.

“The police said it’s not a coincidence that the first time you installed a nanny cam that you caught her doing something. It’s probably been going on for a few months.”

Trusting your child’s instincts is key. Listen to them and observe their fears.

“Trust what your child is telling you, even if they’re nonverbal,” Scott says. “Preston didn’t seem to respond to her. He didn’t seem to like her lately. It was right around the time he would have separation anxiety, so we weren’t sure if it was just correlating with that or if he just didn’t like her.”

After the nanny was caught abusing the boy, Shawna Scott wishes she would have installed a nanny-cam instantly.

“Had I to do it all over again, I would have had the nanny cam from the beginning, and that’s the unfortunate lesson I had to learn, but maybe by sharing my story, someone can avoid what I went through.”

Preston’s mother says anytime he sees someone who looks like Halliburton, he gets anxious. Other than dealing with that, he’s doing well.

Scott referred to Sittercity in hiring Halliburton. The nanny site has removed Gina Halliburton from their services and has informed other nanny websites about her.
