‘Faking It’ Season 2 Gets 10 More Episodes: How Will Amy and Liam’s Secret Be Revealed?

MTV loves Faking It and wants more. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has ordered 10 more episodes for its sophomore run, giving it a Season 2B and a total order for 20 episodes.

The comedy about two best friends who were faking a lesbian relationship to gain ground in the social hierarchy at their high school in Austin is following the same path that its lead-in, Awkward, did when it received an order of eight more episodes for its third season. The series averaged 800,000 viewers this season, and while that is down year-to-year, with Awkward ending, MTV must be looking to the future for its shows.

Season 1 of Faking It saw Amy fall for Karma, who was too busy falling for Liam, and when that all fell apart and the lies were revealed, Amy and Liam ended up sleeping together and have since promised to keep what happened a secret. Recent episodes have seen Amy and Karma “break up” and Lauren’s secret come out and others find out that she was born intersex.

According to The Backlot, the most recent episode of Faking It saw Amy plan a big “Best of Karmy retrospective” scavenger hunt for her friend’s birthday, but in the end, she gave her BFF Liam as her gift after seeing the two together earlier. Still, that didn’t keep the best friends from wearing the real gift of “BEST FRIEND” necklaces, which they promised to wear until they turned their necks green, in the end. So what does this mean for them? As Inquisitr previously addressed, anything could happen between Amy and Karma.

TVLine has the scoop from stars Rita Volk and Michael Willett about what’s coming up this season on Faking It when it comes to the big secret and Shane’s love life. Volk has said that it is “inevitable” that it will come out and lead to a horrible aftermath.

“Amy can’t keep it in for that long, and Liam – even though he’s known as a player and a liar and a cheat – is actually a pretty good guy. So it’s bound to come out, and it’s not going to be pretty. …Everyone gets screwed over and hurt.”

Also, Willett spoke about Shane finding “a kindred spirit” in a character introduced in this week’s episode, Duke, who revealed at the end of this week’s Faking It that he’s not out yet, so he has to keep things discreet, and no, he didn’t mean dating. Instead, Shane got a gift of his own right there in the alley.

“I really like [the idea of] Shane and Duke as a couple. But we’ll have to see where that goes. I don’t even know the final outcome; the way it all turns out, you don’t quite know what happens.”

Faking It Season 2 airs Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m. on MTV.
