‘Once Upon A Time’ Spoilers About The Captain Swan Date And Hook’s Haunted Hand [Video]

Once Upon a Time just couldn’t let Captain Hook and Emma Swan have a nice, normal date.

Captain Swan fans might get to enjoy a swoon-worthy moment when Killian shows up at Emma’s door to take her out on their very first real date, but things are probably going to go downhill from there in “The Apprentice.”

Last week on Once Upon a Time, Emma opened up to Hook about why she’s been avoiding him — she doesn’t want to lose him the same way she lost Neal/Baelfire, Graham/Huntsman/Christian Grey, and Walsh/Flying Monkey/the Wizard of Oz. However, Hook pointed out that he’s a survivor, and Emma finally let down one of her many walls.

Unfortunately, their romantic bliss isn’t going to last very long at all. Hook might not be a complex mish-mash of multiple characters like Emma’s other Once Upon a Time love interests, but the show is about to remind viewers that he was once a very different man. According to Entertainment Weekly, Hook will get a reminder of the vengeful pirate he used to be when he gets his old hand back from Mr. Gold. The pirate’s old crocodile nemesis has kept the fleshy memento in a jar ever since he lopped it off centuries ago, and he actually agrees to give it back to Hook. However, magic always comes with a price on Once Upon a Time.

It’s hinted that Hook’s old hand is haunted by the spirit of old Hook, the boozing buccaneer who cared only about himself after losing his brother and Milah, the previous love of his life. His reattached hand might not be a fan of Emma, and all it remembers is a violent pirate’s life of pillaging and partying at taverns throughout fairy tale land.

Rumple might not be Killian’s biggest fan, but you have to give him credit for warning the pirate that reattaching his hand could prove to be a bad idea.

According to HitFix, Hook actor Colin O’Donoghue talked about the Captain Swan date and Killian’s deal with the devil during an interview on the Once Upon a Time set in Vancouver. He revealed that the actual date “goes really well,” but Hook can’t help but worry about his hand.

“There are other struggles that are going on behind. Hook has made a deal with Rumplestiltskin to get his hand back so that he can have it to be able to hold Emma, as he says and… he’s worried that the hand is cursed and basically he just won’t have any secrets from Emma and he’s worried that by having this, it’s beginning to bring back the violence that he used to have and that’s behind it all.”

Jennifer Morrison teased that Captain Swan will have a “good kiss” during their date, and Colin O’Donoghue talked about Hook’s modern makeover. O’Donoghue said that the pirate is making a real effort to adjust to life in Storybrooke (if he could only figure out how to use that darn cell phone), and the actor pointed out that Hook is “pretty good at just sorta adapting.”

“The vulnerability is less about what he’s wearing and more just the fact that he’s opened his heart up to someone again and how that makes him feel. That’s where the real vulnerability is.”

As The Inquisitr previously reported, Emma and Hook’s date will be at an Italian place, so Once Upon a Time fans might get to witness a Lady and the Tramp spaghetti moment. Will Scarlet is also going to pop up in “The Apprentice,” and he’s going to be on the wrong side of the law yet again — the Knave is trying to break into the library to steal a special book. Could it be Henry’s mysterious book of fairy tales?

Hook won’t be the only one who makes a deal with Rumple on this week’s episode of Once Upon a Time. In a flashback scene, Anna will tell Mr. Gold that she’ll do “whatever it takes” to get answers about why her parents visited the Enchanted Forest. Her deal will reportedly involve stealing a special box for Rumple. It’s in the possession of the Sorcerer’s apprentice (Timothy Webber), and it’s likely the same box that Mr. Gold recently used to conjure up the star-covered sorcerer’s hat from Fantasia.

You’ll have to wait to see if Hook’s hand ruins his relationship with Emma, and if Anna succeeds in keeping her end of the bargain, when Once Upon a Time airs Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
