We doubt that you will find many puppies as cute as the little husky puppy named Dakota standing at the top of the stairs in the video above.
According to a video her owners uploaded to YouTube, no amount of food bribery was going to bring the husky puppy down the stairs.
“Possibly the cutest husky video in the world! This is our husky puppy, Dakota, trying to walk down the stairs. So cute and hilarious at the same time.!”
The video is obviously adorable and well worth the more than three minute watch, but it brings up the question: why is this husky puppy afraid of the stairs?
Over at About.com, Amy Bender said stair fears could be due to not having enough exposure early in life. As we see in the video above, Dakota’s owners are trying hard to combat that issue.
“The majority of dogs who are afraid of stairs develop the fear because of a lack of early exposure. If you live in a single story home, it’s possible that your dog won’t see stairs until a little later in life. You may even discourage your puppy from going on the stairs to keep him contained to a single room.
“In some instances, a dog may develop a fear of stairs from a traumatic experience. A dog who falls down the stairs may be left with a phobia of climbing stairs.”
To overcome the husky puppy stairs fear (or any other dog’s fears of stairs), Bender recommends the following — clear off the steps, distract the scared dog, go one step at a time (similar to what was tried with the husky puppy), and reverse your efforts and maybe try getting the dog to go up the stairs.
In a brief post about the video, The Huffington Post wrote, “One day, Dakota will look back on her stair anxiety and laugh.”
While the video above is cute, would you ever think that puppy videos could be used to promote safe drinking? That is what Budweiser is doing in a new ad campaign. So now you’ve seen the cutest husky puppy on the planet and you’ve learned that these cute guys can save lives.
