Harry Styles Fanfic ‘After’ Is Headed To The Big Screen

A very raunchy Harry Styles-inspired fanfic is headed to the big screen in the very near future. Of course, Styles’ name won’t appear anywhere in the final product.

Since stories that began as someone’s erotic fantasy are all the rage these days (see: Fifty Shades of Grey), the folks at Paramount Pictures are striking while the cinematic iron is hot. Well, they’re assuming that the iron is smoldering, since the adaptation of E.L. James’ naughty novel hasn’t opened in theaters just yet. That won’t happen until February 13, 2015, which, as you may already have guessed, is Valentine’s Day weekend. Clever.

With Grey set to take the world by storm next year, the studio is obviously looking for the next “big thing” to capitalize on the flick’s success. Enter the Harry Styles-inspired fanfic After, penned by author Anna Todd. According to Cambio, Todd was understandably excited about the project, and shared the (good?) news on Instagram.

“In case you haven’t heard… Paramount acquired the rights to After!!! I am so happy and so excited to finally tell you! I just want to thank you guys so so much for always supporting me and loving Hessa and being such a huge part of this crazy journey with me! We all did this together, if you clicked on a chapter, if you voted, if you made edits and Manips and fan accounts and videos, this is for you!”

Although Paramount is eager to bring the Styles story to the big screen, it’s unclear who will end up playing the Harry-esque character when the cameras begin to roll. What’s more, it’s unknown what lucky director will bravely take on this project. There’s a lot of unknowns right now, including how Harry Styles feels about the whole thing.

Not surprisingly, some people are already assembling massive lists of Hollywood actors to tackle the role of Hardin Scott, the character previously known as One Direction’s Harry Styles. For example, Sugarscape suggests that Evan Peters (American Horror Story), Ezra Miller (Perks of Being a Wallflower), and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past) are suitable candidates, among many others.

Of course, reactions to the Harry Styles-inspired fanfic movie were a decidedly mixed bag. While some 1D fans seemed excited about the flick, others were a little irritated by the idea. Scratch that — extremely irritated. Check out some reactions below.

What do you think about author Anna Todd’s Harry Styles fanfic After getting a movie? Do you plan to catch the naughty flick on the big screen?
