I'd never make this choice – however – I'd never marry and have children with another woman, but I support that, too. Those kids are all fed, clothed and cared for. He and the mothers work, and not a single thing is on anyone else's dime. How is this made a big deal of, but not the gang-banging idiots that run out and have dozens of children by multiple mothers that they don't support or nurture, all the while expecting them to be supported financially by the rest of society through welfare, CHIP, Wic and food stamps? He does! He owned a company for a long time and finally sold it and made a very nice chunk of $$$. He and the wives are starting their own business now! These are good people so dont judge them if u dont know them.

It's not our place to judge and I love this family the first poly family I actually can see a "somewhat normal family". Its the long dresses and the old man and all the young wives, that is what scares me…… Its not what I would choose personally but to each is their own!

Just because they live different than you and I doesn't mean they are dysfunctional. Kody is a great father and tries very hard and supports all the wives. Which is more than I can say for a lot of fathers and husbands who have one wife and lets say 2 kids! It be one thing if he didn't support them but he does everything a father is supposed to do. If you plain don't like him or the show, that is entirely something different. But they are happy and want this life. No one judges you for the lives that you run. Kody doesn't smoke, drink or do drugs. He tries to lead a very family oriented life. Shouldn't we admire him for at least being a good guy who is taking care of his responsibilities. But, I know at the end of the day people just like to jump on people for being a little different. It shouldn't be that way.

Everyone has an opinon about this – but no one is right or wrong on there religous beliefs – I don't judge anyone who can stand up and take care of his kids and his wives. If we judge this famliy lets judge the 19 kids and counting or gays because it does not matter how they live their life – As long as they do what they are suppose to do to raise them kids healthy it does not matter. Plus his beliefs you should not even kiss – or its frowned upon unless your cording.

We can make all the judgement's we want about people's character, lifestyle, ethics or looks… that's not wrong. We are admonished only for judging a person's eligibility to be saved and get into heaven. That's God's job. It's lazy to not judge people's actions and shows a lack of character of your own, and in that case, maybe you shouldn't be judging anyone.

I understand the initial reaction…I do; however, what about woman who live in marriages where they know their husbands are having affairs? The difference… her self esteem is low. She probably doesn't think she can leave.
I also agree, why not have brother husbands but I understand that is not the "religion" and after all, this is about their choice of religion as much as lifestyle.
They seem to be a loving and caring family with several dynamic units within all putting their resources together to live, love, and raise their children. What is wrong with that? Gay couples raise children all the time and they are not put in jail. It is very sad that this family had to move because of prejudice. If they are not evading taxes or engaging in child molestation/abuse/ or marring underage girls what is wrong with it?

I have known many doctors…lawyers that like to get covered in latex and whipped at night. Some like to swing and have sex with other partners…is it for me? Newp but if they are contributing, genuine members of society, what right do I have to judge or imprison them?

I see what you are saying Mary but I do not believe this family indulges in the behaviors of the "hardcore" polygamy groups. I have heard of that happening in those as well as the child molestation (underage wives) which I do find disgusting and I am not speaking for the Browns but I bet if you asked them it would make them ill too.
We all have things we are somewhat ashamed of in the pasts of our religions. Does it mean you agreed with it? Not necessarily it is just part of the history.

It is, "For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." (Mk. 4.24) That tells me not to hold someone else to a higher standard than you hold yourself to. I have no problem being judged by the same standards with which I judge others. When I screw up, I ask for forgiveness, make amends, and try to do better. If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything. I do not think they should be prosecuted because he is only legally married to one woman so no laws were broken. Why prosecute?

While I saw a few episodes of this show when it first aired, I was intrigued. I say let them live that life if they so choose.. but I don't think I could live a life like that, I'd be too jealous of the other wives getting attention from a man that claimed to love me.

For my own opinion, I wouldn't do this. But, the people that judge these people, need to learn only God can judge. I'm not saying that what they do is right, and I'm not saying what they do is wrong either. They seem very happy with each other. I don't understand why people will judge them like they do, but then when it comes to people who do drugs or drink, they just say, "They're living their life the way they want to. We can't stop them." Well if some of those people will look at the things they say, it falls into this as well. It's their lives not yours. Let them live the way they want to. I'm sure you wouldn't like it if someone was to say bad things about your life. So why do it to others?

While I myself would never have a family like this I am not going to judge these people. They are not hurting anyone. And, even though I am not a strict Christian I am Christian and I believe in "He who has not sinned, cast the first stone."

This whole marriage issue whatever it may be is a distractioin from the real issues. People should be able to make choices that do not affect anyone elses safety or rights. 25 years ago it was illeagal for different races to marry in certain states.

David Patterson yes I do watch the show and they do have jealously they complain that Robin gets more time with Cody and you do see some unhappiness. How can you be happy to share the man you love to me its not really love its lack of selfesteem.

I agree, there is some unhappiness… such is life. I am unhappy with my husband, many, many times, just as he can be unhappy with me. That is marriage not a criminal offense.
They chose to deal with the jealousy issues. Each of them could leave if they wished if it became something they were not willing to deal with. Robyn left a marriage she was not happy with and came into this one knowing what she was getting. So did the others. They all remain. I can love many different people many different ways. I do not limit myself to gender (even though I am heterosexual) and am pleased they have so much love for each other. Just because we do not understand "their love" doesn't mean it does not exist. I would never expect anyone to understand how I love my husband when I am yelling at him or when he teases me … it is our way.
That is there way…again, not something I see as our business to run them out of town or exile them. They are people. They bleed, eat, grow, and love.
Just thoughts. I understand you believe they have lack of self esteem but having been a woman in the military and a fierce protector of woman's rights, I really see no problem here. They are not on a compound being held against their will or without the choice to do anything else. They have choice, are well educated, and choose this.

I know that the so and so + however many got something like 75k per episode. I hope they do get that because it would help them out I am sure, however I am a little upset with the "government" remark. I don't know that they are utilizing government help but if they are, why not? If they are all trying to work and raising their kids and qualify under the regulations of (father – mother – kid kid kid ) income (again having to assume they reveal the living situation) they should. My husband and I both work and we go to school to try to get better paying work. I use WIC. Am I a bad person? Do I belong in jail? I work when I am sick, injured and I try to pull me weight. I pay into social security and disability and have been stiffed on sitting fees by someone who is "too sick to work". She lives on the government and has entitlement syndrome. If I had seen any evidence of that I may not be defending them so enthusiastically however, I would still defend their choice to be with whomever and however many people they want to. The fact they are all in committed relationship really speaks to their character not against. So why would anyone be bitter that people, US citizens utilize the aid that is put in place for all?

Absolutely. I still see no reason for a criminal investigation. I am going to have to research that because it just seems like they keep it there for the "hardcore" polygamists that rape and hurt child brides and evade taxes… you know? Law should be changed.
Wasn't it illegal for those of a different color skin to sit at the front of a bus? Seriously, their own community ran them out of town. Seems like lynch mentality to me. Those poor kids were more traumatized by being run out of their home than anything their parents ever do.

I believe the first wife was married to Kody at 19, and Kody himself was 20. Not illegal or inappropriate. Second wife was 20 I believe and third was 21. Fourth came recently after they had been married for 16 – 17 and 20 years and she was a divorce of 30 years of age. By the way, I forgot to wish them all well with the arrival of their new child. CONGRATULATIONS FAMILY BROWN. *loves babies*

Unfortunately the kids don't have that same luxury. I see these woman smiling but really I don't believe they are as happy as they want people to believe. Kody on the other hand definitely has his cake and eating it too. Those children were uprooted and see their father approximately 1 day a week. They might as well be from a divorced home.

Why would a guy want a wife much less 4 or 5…..social statistics should a females standard of living increases 40% or more when she gets married and a mans standard of living falls 10%. Why would a guy subject himself to getting married in this modern age? Women are dominating work force now and high paying jobs….they don't need men and men don't need them.
