Chanel Designer Karl Lagerfeld To Launch Own Line In January


Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld has teamed with private equity firm Apax to launch a new rock chic clothing line that will first appear for retail sales on January 2012, the line will be called Karl.

Speaking about his vision Lagerfeld noted:

“We are working on a lot of amazing ideas which are all about making luxury affordable and accessible. I’m very excited about bringing this vision to life with this brand.”

The clothing line will be sold exclusively through Swiss luxury group Richemont’s online fashion retail unit for the first month before reaching select retailers Spring 2011. Items will cost 60 to 300 Euros each. ($80 to $400 USD).

Lagerfeld is also in the process of creating an upscale label called Karl Lagerfeld Paris which is set to debut in autumn 2012. Under his upscale label buyers will be expected to pay 300 to 2000 euros per item and those clothes will be sold in multi-brand and department stores.
