Impeach Obama Says Rock Icon Neil Young

“Impeach Obama” declared legendary rock musician Neil Young.

Young claims that President Obama is sounding a sour note with the administration’s environmental policies.

Those on the opposite side of the political spectrum have previously called for the president’s impeachment over the Bowe Bergdahl prisoner swap, the Benghazi coverup, and executive orders that circumvent Congress. Consumer advocate Ralph Nader has also called for the president’s impeachment over bombing Libya without Congressional approval.

An inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Neil Young was a member of two iconic bands — Buffalo Springfield and super group Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young — and has also forged a long career as a solo artist.

Now 68, Young is about to release his 35th studio album, Storytone.

The subject of impeachment came up last night as Young, who is a well-known environmentalist, bantered with Stephen Colbert on The Colbert Report.

Colbert: “Last time you were here, you tried getting me to sing a song about impeaching the president who at the time was George W. Bush. And you wanted to impeach him over getting us into the war in Iraq. Now that President Obama is getting us into a war in Iraq, are you up for impeaching him too?”

Young: “No.”

Colbert: “Then you’re a double hypocrite?”

Young: “I think we should impeach him for fracking.”

Fracking (hydraulic fracturing) is a technique for removing natural gas and oil from shale rock, which is bitterly opposed by environmentalists. For better or worse, fracking has made North Dakota an economic powerhouse with the lowest unemployment rate in the country. “With crude oil output set to reach over one million barrels per day in 2014 (941,637 barrels per day as of October 2013), North Dakota has become the second-largest oil producing state in the nation, second only to Texas, and the fastest growing economy in the U.S. amidst a debilitating recession,” Forbes reported.

In an appearance with Howard Stern earlier that same day, Young quipped about the president’s environmental promises “Isn’t that what Barack Obama said? ‘Change and hope’ and all that? And they’re fracking in the Gulf of Mexico. Hello, Barack! Wake up, buddy!” Young, who is Canadian, also told Stern that all politicians — Democrats and Republicans alike — are tainted in his opinion because they have become subject to corporate control. Young also declared on the Stern radio show that the free world should fight climate change rather than ISIS.

Separately, with President Obama’s golf outing on Sunday, he has now played 200 rounds since taking office. Also, last week he attended a big ticket fundraiser at the estate of a billionaire by the name of Rich Richman at the same time his team was blasting out a Democrat fundraising email that slammed Republicans for being in the pocket of billionaires.

Do you think Neil Young is serious or joking about his call to impeach Obama?
