Taylor Swift Explains The Story Behind ‘Out Of The Woods’
Taylor Swift recently dropped her latest single “Out of the Woods” on the masses, and apparently people seem to enjoy it. Since fans love getting the inside scoop on her creative process, the singer decided to reveal how the tune came about.
Not surprisingly, Swift’s latest radio-friendly outing was deeply inspired by one of her failed relationships. Instead of discussing the aftermath of the broken romance, Taylor said she took all of her doubts, shook them around and spit them out on paper. The end result, as you may already have guessed, is “Out of the Woods.”
These revelations arrived during Taylor Swift’s recent interview with the folks at Access Hollywood. In addition to opening up about the aforementioned song, the country singer also discussed the snowmobile accident she experienced not too long ago.
“I wrote that about a time in my life where I was in a relationship and it just kind of, I was always wondering, ‘Where do we stand? What are we?’ It’s the anxiety… that frantic anxiety of wondering if you’re on solid ground yet.”
When asked about the snowmobile accident and the fact that it didn’t make headlines, Taylor Swift said her true friends would never say anything about her private life. In other words, those anonymous sources you read about aren’t as close to Taylor as they claim.
“Honestly, I think I put that [in the song] because people think they know the exact narrative of the way that my life has gone. They think that everybody who reports something is telling the truth. Like, every source is a real friend close to me. When truly, the reason most of the things in the media that are written about me aren’t true because none of my real friends would ever talk to the press.”
Unfortunately for Taylor Swift fiends who want to know about the juicy details behind “Out of the Woods,” the singer stopped short of revealing who, exactly, the song is about. However, that doesn’t mean some outlets don’t have theories to share with their readers.
For example, the boys and girls over at Billboard believe the tune is about Swift’s relationship with One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles. In fact, they have assembled a batch of evidence that supports this theory.
“While Swift’s most famous December-related paramour was Taylor Lautner (See: Her missing his ‘tan skin’ in ‘Back To December’), this clue could also point to Harry. The two allegedly had a big fight in December 2012, which ultimately led to their breakup (and Swift’s super-sad solo boat ride).”
