Three weeks ago 60 Minutes correspondent Andy Rooney ended his run on the show after 33 years on the air and today we have learned that the 92-year old writer has been hospitalized.
According to Rooney’s family he is in stable condition after suffering serious complications related to a minor surgery he underwent over the weekend.
At this time Rooney’s family have asked that no further information about his medical problems be revealed.
A Few Minutes with Andy Rooney finished it’s long and successful run three weeks ago after Rooney spent most Sunday nights for more than three decades looking at the absurdities of life.
Rooney’s Oct. 2 show airing was his 1,097 and final essay although he said of his love for 60 minutes and his weekly spot:
“I wish I could do this forever. I can’t, though.”
Show producers said at the time of his exit that he would be welcomed back with open arms if he ever planned to share his musing in the future, even if just on a part-time basis.
Our best wishes go out to Andy Rooney and his entire family.
