A Few Minutes with Andy Rooney finished it’s long and successful run three weeks ago after Rooney spent most Sunday nights for more than three decades looking at the absurdities of life.

Rooney’s Oct. 2 show airing was his 1,097 and final essay although he said of his love for 60 minutes and his weekly spot:

“I wish I could do this forever. I can’t, though.”

Show producers said at the time of his exit that he would be welcomed back with open arms if he ever planned to share his musing in the future, even if just on a part-time basis.

Our best wishes go out to Andy Rooney and his entire family.
