‘Destiny’ Hot Fix Nerfs Mythocast, Other Weapons: Smites Another Loot Cave

Bungie previously stated that the weapons in Destiny would be on the receiving end of gameplay balancing tweaks. That day arrived Monday with the release of a hot fix patch to PlayStation and Xbox consoles that primarily focuses on the weapons, but also touches the Raid, Strikes and one of the remaining loot caves.

The 1.0.2.2 hotfix for Destiny is available Tuesday, October 14th and brings the promised Auto Rifle nerf. The rifle has become the weapon of choice in Crucible multiplayer that decreases both its power and range. The shotgun has also received a decrease in its range. On the flip side, Scout Rifles have received more power and hand cannons are now more accurate when shooting in the air. Pulse Rifles were not touched. Exotic weapons were touched as well, but only two. The Mythocast was seen as overpowered as soon as the first player nabbed it from the Vault of Glass and dominated in multiplayer with it. That’s received a damage decrease. Meanwhile, the Pocket Infinity had a perk swap. Balancing to Bad Juju and other exotic weapons are still on the way.

Strikes will now show Engram rewards in post-game activities, and the Raid had some fixes applied to the Templar Encounter. Finally, Loot Cave 2.0 is getting nerfed. There’s still one or two locations available, but the glory days of the original loot cave are definitely past.
