Ashton Kutcher Ringless in “The State of Truth” Video

Posted: October 22, 2011

demi moore

Ashton Kutcher isn’t happy with all of the lies present in the media. So the star of “Two and a Half Men” decided to make a video, sans wedding ring, asking the press to be more honest in its reporting.

Kutcher says in a video on Chime.in:

“I just wanted to open up a little dialogue on the state of honesty. The state of truth. The status of truth as it pertains to literature and media.”

Ok, I’m listening.

“Publishers had a limited amount of inventory, publishers held great scrutiny over what they would be willing to print. They were the gatekeepers of truth… If it seemed like something wasn’t the truth, they wouldn’t print it because their reputation was on the line.”

This is the same guy that just allegedly cheated on his wife, Demi Moore, with a 20 something girl in a San Diego hot tub. right?

Kutcher continues:

“I started thinking about that in relation to media and social media today, where the threshold to actually have literature printed and distributed, the cost threshold is zero dollars. Thereby there is no gatekeeper of truth.”

Is Ashton saying that the media treated him unfairly in regard to his alleged affair with Sara Leal? Does Ashton hold the media to a higher standard than he holds himself? Or is this little speech completely unrelated to his relationship with Demi Moore?

Here’s a clip from Celeb TV.

Do you agree with Ashton Kutcher’s message? Even if you don’t agree with the messenger?

Would not the absence of any financial motivation to alter or sway the truth in the favor of a particular publisher or power broker be the best way to ensure the truth is always spoken, or in this case typed, freely? Or is that me just being dumb?

  2. Instead of worrying what the Media is saying how about focusing on making two and A Half men actually funny and worth watching again before you prove Charlie sheen right and the show ends up being cancelled.

  3. Nobody really cares about this twit except as an example of how stars seem to befoul their own nests the nanosecond something really good happens to their careers.

ashton Kutcher was the WRONG CHOICE fore replacement. I could picture 3,4 better candidates that would've upgraded the current, fluff, lame, silly feel to the show to more sophistication. bad move, cbs execs.

  5. only when something bad about the stars come out and its true and they dont want the media to put it out are they gonna say something to the media. Look at poor Demi, she looks like a walking skeleton. Ashton, put a sock in it, and get ur marriage under control, hypocrite!

  6. How about we all become unimpressed with movie stars and uninterested in their lives that have nothing to do with the things we go through?

  7. it's the dawg in him lol

  8. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. He's an ass.

  9. I often wonder why Hollywood personalities bother to marry. They so often play roles that involve them with others often in a simulated sexual act. It would take a saint not to give in to temptation.

  10. NONE OF YOU KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT HIM OR DEMI OR THERE MARRIGE. SO UNTIL YOU KNOW ALL THE FACTS STOP BEING TYPICAL AND SHUT UP!

  11. Sho`Nuff!

I think Ashton is right. The media used to print something only if it was a fact, because they could be held liable for printing an untruth. The stars are people, just like everyone else, they just make a lot of money doing their job. Sometimes long hours, travel, tv appearances, concerts, work even when they are sick. It's a job. They have problems too, just like us. They are there to entertain us! The media has made it their job to harass them and get paid for it. We don't want to hear it and they don't want to be harassed everyday. I'm with Ashton. DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU HEAR AND ONLY HALF OF WHAT YOU SEE.

I do have all the facts. "THERE MARRIGE" should be "THEIR MARRIAGE". Learn 2 Spell Dipp Schitt.

  14. hey south pacific dumb ass .tomorrow i could learn to spell but you ll still be stupid ! your post verified what i said .THERE MARRIGE IS THERE MARRIGE !YOU MAY KNOW HOW TO SPELL ,BUT YOU VE GOT THE BRAINS OF A BOX OF HAIR !

He's right, there is no "news" anymore. There are many op end pieces, and the mentality of "fast and wrong is still fast" (a phrase Dan Patrick uses, a REAL provider of the news). With that said though, will he be joining Charlie Sheens torpedo of truth tour? lol

  16. The public will believe anything so long as it is not associated with truth.

His marriage is his business. People are too obsessed with celebrities and their lives. How many men cheat on their wives daily? Suppose someone was to broadcast your affairs at your workplace? Yes, to a point they agree to be exposed by being celebrities. But people simply care too much about people they have never met, and in most cases will never meet.

We never know what's going on behind close doors with anyone be it a celeb or nonceleb….Unfortunately pix don't lie and I think Ashton would be better off to keep his mouth shut and take whatever time it takes to mend his marriage, if in fact that can even happen. Stay quiet and do what u have to do. As far as Two and a half men…Its over because no one can replace Charlie. The show had a great run..not many sitcoms last that long.

I think it's all a bunch of hype to get people to watch his stupid show.

  25. That wasn't me.

  26. In the spirit of "truth", Kutcher cheated in San Diego, not Las Vegas.

  27. I think the whole thing is a publicity stunt in order to boost the ratings of his new show. Don't be so gullible people!

  28. you even say in your article that he ALLEGEDLY – do you know what that means? Means you don't know. So yes he is right- you are a douche bag as well.

  29. Cheated on his wife got caught is whinny little PUNK!

  30. "have fun charity banging that geriatric for eternity" "i hope I get famous in my early 20s and marry a 40 something with a bunch of kids, that will throw the scent ofF the gay trail" " I guess it has, I guess it has".

  31. Shut up Kutcher. You are immature, a cheater, and talk about calling the kettle black. Boy, you can't even live up to putting your family first. Too busy putting your scummy hotdog in everyone elses mustard EXCEPT your WIFES! Believe this: YOU ruined any credibility you had as a "good" guy. Just a middle aged horndog man-boy with an incredible ego that isn't warranted. By the way, you CAN'T act. Everything you do is just silly, dumb azz roles. Demi, on the other hand is a real actress. She'll be much better soon enough without your idiotcy issues bringing her down.

  32. Sadly, you're the one that's being "typical" Joe. Nearly every time a celebrity or public figure behaves badly there's a ton of folks pleading that all of us should "shut up until they know the facts." The most ridiculous case of this occurred when Chris Brown beat up Rhianna… at a certain point, wrong is wrong.

Frankly, I don't need to know the circumstances behind every bad action. If John Doe molests a child, I don't really care about his motivation (If you're a parent like I am, I hope you'll at least agree with me on this point).

Remember, it was Sarah Leal, not the media, that accused Kutcher of infidelity (her "tweets" on the subject were fairly clear… as were the pictures that followed).

southpacificswimmer – way to go! In 10 years nobody will be able to spell or punctuate. Makes one wonder what they are teaching in school.

  37. Ashton I know this is all the dark force at work because you and demi have been blessed and you guys are a huge channel for the light to end pain and suffering as long as we remember this goal to remove pain and suffering for the entire world who cares what people think..we need to remember we are the ones responsible..you two are roll models for all of the rest of us..

Hollywood people don't beleive in marriage, they just go through the motions to try boosting their ratings and popularity.

  39. What the heck is he talking about? If he didn't screw her, he should just plainly say so. This beating around the bush makes him look "Guilty as Charged". Sorry, guy, if you didn't want Demi, you should have dumped her first. It would have been the right thing to do.

Oh Joe, get over it… THEIR lives are a fish bowl… when they decided to become a celebrity they opened up to our speculation… why would the girl he cheated with come forward to say he was with her? He did it and it was probably not the first time he had. Demi is an attractive woman but she is almost 50 years old.. he is still in his sexual prime and she is going through menopause. What was she thinking to marry him in the first place? Wanting to look younger and healthy for your age is one thing but marrying a guy in double digits younger than you is asking to fail. She needs to pick a man to marry next time … not a boy.

Steve just hit it on the head. Stop the obsession with so called celebrities. There's a revolution happening folks in REAL life, unplug yourselves from the illusion and get educated. Start by watching the documentary "BURZYNSKI," about the doctor who's had the cure for CANCER since the 70's, and our so called government's attempt to buy him and his tech. It's all there in black and white people, it's up to you if you want to live in fairy tail land…..

  48. This guy's a jerkwad to begin with, who cares what he has to say. "Two and a Half Men", is going down the toilet and Ashton Kutcher is going to lead the way. He is a marginal actor at best. It sounds like he's going to lose his mommy (Demi) too. (She should be going into menapause before long.) What a couple of losers!

  49. this could all be a publicity stunt for the show. hmmmm

  50. This crap is all for publicity! Bad publicity is better than No publicity!

  51. obviously a lot of people do care about Ashton's life, or nobody would be reporting and printing magazines about it.

I really liked Ashton, until he cheated on Demi! Come on, who besides him would cheat on Demi!

  54. So I take it by some of your comments that you think the Media these days IS honest? I remember a day when Media had a duty to uphold truth and not taint the news with agendas and views. Just reporting what happened. The lies in the media are so rampant that they even influence who are going to be POTUS in the next election. The fault lies in the owners of the media and their lack of transparency. Still, IF the entire public knew of the lies the media consistently tell, I wonder if anyone would even care anymore? I know I care, but it seems when you tell someone that they are being lied to, they prefer to change the focus from the lies to something childish such as Prutcher's affair, rather than actually digesting the consequence of a controlling State Media full of propaganda and lies rather than a news reporting entity full of virtue.

  55. blah blah blah…….he makes no sense, he is making himself look worse and that will make people stop watching two and a half men because, I agree with Giovanni Franceshini, focus on the show and bring something funny because it's not right now…..

  56. Who would you suggest? Maybe they can replace Kutcher quickly. I'd love for them to make Sheen undead and just eat crow and bring him back

  57. 1.- The new show stinks.
2.- Your wife is wasting her time with you.
3.- If confused, refer to #1 and #2 above.

  58. I don't care one bit about who he does or doesn't boink. I just like staring at him because he's gorgeous!

Ashton your time would have been better spent cutting your greasy looking hair, shaving your freaky looking facial hair off and keeping a shirt on your scrawny body so the viewing of Two and 1/2 Men would be appealing enough to possibly try watching again. Blech!

Yes I do agree with him. the media is more obsessed with what type of toilet paper celebrities use, or OMG a kardashian went out without makeup, Oh MY! Its hardly a slow news time, how about more important reporting like about JOBS!

  65. That was the most dysfunctional group of sentences I've read in a long time. Good thing he's not a writer. The subject is honesty and trust but he refers to a "unknown" subject… I'm guessing this statement is directed to a specific person(s) that can decipher the message. The media? That's a pretty broad category. There must be someone in particular. Quit with the cryptic message, we all know your young and tired of that old ***. Your human like everyone else, spit it out, move on. Easy.

  66. I agree about the truth being told, the media is very deceiving, but rhere isalways an elemnt of truth in rumors, celebrities because they are exposed to the public have to be extremely cautious in their actions and behavior so they do not fall victims.

twit. Wish I had made that comment. Whine whine whine. I'm pulling out the worlds smallest violin to have a pity party to this annoying deuche. If he were a smart man, he would say no comment, and/or this is a private issue between my wife and me. But he is a no class dim wit and an attention whore (as far as I know he's the only male in that category) which speaks to his manhood lack thereof and his proximity to a whiney little starlet bitch. Now his media attention whore mongering is turning on him. Effing crybaby. Grow a pair and STFU.

The social media whore has gotten an SMTD social media transmitted disease. Of course he blames the media which he had boasted about his popularity in his typically self-absorbed grandiosity. Now he cries about it and scapegoats. He is really reminding me of Jon Edwards before his lies imploded. Denial. denial. denial. Schadenfreude never tasted so sweet. Dude. I do feel a little guilty about enjoying his personal and professional meltdown. Is 2 and a half men an albatross around the neck of its star?

  72. I think the young man not only should he clean up his own life, but could do with a haircut and shave; he is not that good on two and half, the show is so bad, not good actor; could have told them that. The show will never be the same!

  73. it's simple the best show on TV "SUCKS" now bring back Charlie…

  74. HEY MILES , YOUR A REAL BAD ASS OVER THE NET.YOU REMIND ME OF WHAT THE BROTHERS CALL … A PHONE MONSTER .IF I COULD TOUCH YOU I DE MAKE YOU MY BITCH ! YOU DUMB ASS .

  75. no talent hack!

  77. MS HOLLAND ,I DISAGREE . I VE ALWAYS FELT THAT PEOPLE SHOULD ALWAYS BE ABLE TO HAVE THERE PRIVICY RESPECTED IN THERE PERSONAL LIVES ,REGAURDLESS OF THERE PUBLIC POSITION . AND BY THE WAY ,THAT IS A VERY NICE PICTURE OF YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND !PLEASE EXCUSE MY COMMENT TO MR MILES. HE IS NOT ONLY STUPID BUT DISRESPECTFULL AND I DONT DEAL WITH THAT VERY WELL .BUT I DO NEED TO WORK ON MY SPELLING !

  78. Bring back Charlie and go back to being punked! I don't watch Two And A Half Men anymore just not funny!

I don't think he was talking about “Two and a Half Men. I think he was talking about the affair and the press not doing the fact checking like they should. It's the difference of “Respectable Press and Trash Press.” Research Dan Rather and what happens when someone from “Respectable Press” makes a mistake with their fact checking.

I have no respect for someone who knowingly sleeps with someone's spouse then feels it's o.k. to sell their story to the press as “I need to tell my side.” He is well known and everyone knows that he is married and who he is married to. It doesn't matter if he said he was separated. Everyone lies at some point. She believed him because she wanted to sleep with someone famous and tell everyone she did it. (People who do this aren't fooling anyone.) The press target certain people and accommodate others like this everyday. People such at Tiger and Ashton know this and still allow themselves to be set up hurting the people they are suppose to care for the most. I always feel bad for the really young children.

  80. Thankgod for the reruns!

  81. Donna Lemon– Sheen was no huge talent on that show-he just played a sanitized version of himself–he just sleepwalked through his lines. He never wrote anything for the show–he just said his lines, and was raking in millions as a line-reader, nothing more.

  82. Kathleen Pack It was too you–you spelled 'there'–but to the bigger picture, who needs to bitch about someone elses spelling? It doesn't matter a bit, southpac–shut up!

  83. You said it all, Sharon–Kutcher is a guy with no acting ability–everything he does is just an extension of Dude Where's My Car–and I'm bored with that level of 'talent'.

  84. honestly hope he is not following the path of charlie sheen.

  85. I don't agree. he needs to stop cheating and treating his old ass wife bad. He also needs to find anew job because 2 1/2 Men is not cutting it. He is to me what the Kardashian's are to everyone: TRASH.

  86. Just shut up and take your clothes off!

  87. They get into marriage as an extension of the fantasy they're creating. Cliche "on location romances," which only amount to common lust affairs, are the norm and "entertainers" who embark on these affairs have large egos rather than strong characters. The "role models" some of society makes of these entertainers, actors, singers, dancers, clowns, etc., are the problem. If we'd just enjoy their performances and take them for what they are, rather than try and make them live up to our version of perfection, then maybe when they show their "feet of clay" it wouldn't upset our apple carts so much or even at all…

Another goober actor waxing philosophical…I guess that's what tons of cash and time does to their poofy minds…I hear publishers print the bible a lot…i hear there's a good bit of truth in that–why don't ya read that ashton, and not cheat on your wife…

  89. This is why "Reality Shows" are so popular now. People love bad news! Train wrecks! Disasters of all kinds!
And this is why the people who buy into this garbage are so unhappy with their lives. Obesity isn't just about food. One can o.d on junk news and gossip as well. You want to feel good? Think Good! You want to feel bad…then eat all the bullshit that comes your way..Your choice….tc.

  90. Well said

  91. He is obviously not telling anyone the truth about hisr life or anything else and is not making any sense so why should anyone care about his nonsensical theories about truth? Real peol Plus, these so-callled stars make waaaaaaaaaaay tooo much money for us real people struggling to survive each day to even lsiten to.

  92. I wish people would but it obviously will never happend :/

Ashton, you are a "no body" who married a "somebody, who is now a "has been" do us all a favor and stop with the BS FAKE publicity stunts because NO ONE is buying into all this BS ;) Bottom line, you have NEVER done any work that is worthy of any attention, your box office receipts have always been lame and your only good for being Demi's cabana boy and seriously are starting to falter at that. I watched Two and a Half Men for about 5 minutes since you took over the role and promptly TURNED THE CHANNEL!

  94. Your point would have validity if only actors became involved with other actors in a sexual relationship; however, affairs are not unique to actors. Affairs happen in every aspect of society. Actors get married for the same reasons others marry: love, companionship, financial gain, reputation, etc.

  95. WOW ,THANK YOU .IM NOT MAKING EXCUSES , BUT IM KINDA NEW TO THE WHOLE INTERNET AND COMPUTER THING .BEEN SICK AND OUT OF TOUCH FOR A VERY LONG TIME .IM TRYING TO ENGAGE MY MIND AGAIN .YOUR PROOF THAT THERE ARE NICE PEOPLE OUT THERE !

  96. I was responding to a large section of society whose inclination it is to make heroes out of celebrities. They, like all of us have "feet of clay" and shouldn't be set up as "role models," who are expected to be more perfect than the rest of us. Sorry you didn't get where I was coming from. However, I believe my point was well taken and very valid, with respect to that issue. All that you say may be true enough, too, but it is irrelevant to the point I was making.

  97. Ok I got a comment. Who Gives a Rats Ass.

  98. Crotchner, your no Charlie Sheen. You a Loser. and a full blown JAGOFF. RW COL USMC.

  99. How about.. We pay attention to movie stars when they are on the big screen and not when they are conducting their private lives? Who this one screws and what she/he did with that one, is none of our business! Pay attention of your own lives and let movie stars entertain you at the theater. It's really just that simple.

  100. I don't like Two and a half men anymore it is very boring and it sucks. Ashton Kutcher needs to get off the show he has ruined it.

  101. He's an ass. Fifteen minutes over?

  102. Author of this "article," Dan Evon, I BELIEVE that Ashton Kutcher was making a case for truthful media coverage. For instance, those people (you for instance) who haven't actually witnessed Mr. Kutcher in bed with someone other than his wife should refrain from spreading rumors. In short, you answered his plea for honesty in media with gossip.

The press should be impartial and report the truth, and as long as it is the true and investigated to be so, they don't have to worry. Problem is, the press prints somehting that one person says is the truth willout truly investigating it. Maybe he cheated, maybe the girl is lieing, maybe their marriage is in trouble, maybe it isn't……….only the people involved know for sure.

The Sara Leal affair was in San Diego not LV that was his biggest mistake. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas #BeSmarter.

  105. Two and a half men was an idiotic show when Martin Sheen was in it and it is still idiotic with Ashton K in it. Idiotic dialogue and bimbos in the bedroom etc. at nauseum. Idiotic show with no backbone. It makes sense that they have two spineless idiots playing the role of spineless idiots because they probably don't know how to act anyway. Thank you for the Ken Burns, thank you for the history channel and Nature channel and a few sitcom type shows that are well done.
