Sofia Vergara Reveals How She Stays Fit And Fabulous At 42: ‘No Pain, No Cake’ [Video]

Sofia Vergara loves flaunting her curvy, sexy shape in revealing attire and never worried about working out or dieting until she turned 40. But when Sofia realized that her sleek physique wasn’t as toned as she desired, the Modern Family star vowed to change her attitude about exercise and diet. Now, after several years devoted to powering up with a high protein diet and regular workouts, Sofia Vergara is showing off her best body on the cover of Shape magazine and telling all her slimming secrets.

When it comes to fitness, Sofia works with a personal trainer who guides her through Pilates-based exercises. The Lagree Method workouts involve a Megaformer to work every part of her body. Vergara also takes classes designed to strengthen and lengthen her body. Sofia is candid about her motivation to immerse herself in an exercise routine.

“Everyone knows that I’ve never been into working out. I was always very happy with what I have. Then I hit 40 and I started seeing a softness everywhere on my body.”

But diet counts, too. And for Sofia, who loves anything and everything sweet, limiting treats such as cake isn’t easy. So she’s got a motto for herself, revealed People magazine.

“When I do indulge, I exercise a bit harder the next day. My workout motto is really simple: No pain, no cake!” revealed Vergara about her unique celebrity weight loss approach.

Sofia feels that moving to Los Angeles has helped her stick to her diet. Tinsel Town is also Thin Town and Vergara says that dining in restaurants with her girlfriends helps.

“If you live here, you can’t always order the high-fat dishes like pasta with truffles. You have a little sushi, and when you’re out with your girlfriends you order a nice salad,” said Sofia.

Vergara’s diet and fitness efforts have been so successful that she earned a place on a rotating pedestal at the Emmy Awards, as shown in the video.

As the Inquisitr revealed, Vergara gets support for her low carb diet from her boyfriend Joe Manganiello. He’s a bodybuilder and dedicated to a high protein diet. Joe even authored a diet and fitness book, Evolution: The Cutting Edge Guide to Breaking Down Mental Walls and Building the Body You’ve Always Wanted.

But while Joe works out six days a week to stay in howling good shape even after the finale of True Blood, Sofia isn’t quite so consistent. She credits her Modern Family co-star Julie Bowen, who runs early in the morning, for helping her.

“I’ll say, ‘Sunday? No, it’s the Lord’s day; I can’t work out.’ [But] being around Julie and seeing how motivated she is … I started to think more about it.”

However, Sofia Vergara will never be a workout lover, she admitted.

“I was able to figure out what worked for me. I don’t love it at all, but I love how my body’s changing,” she said.
