WWE News: NXT Stars The Ascension Set To Be Called Up And Paired With Bray Wyatt?
In a surprising but really cool rumor note, it appears as if WWE will be giving us an interesting faction once again. WWE has been known to come up with some interesting factions as of late. WWE decided to split up The Wyatt Family, where Bray Wyatt “released” Erick Rowan and Luke Harper. The idea most believed involved all three men going their separate ways and become singles competitors. That may not be the case.
According to The Wrestling Observer, Bray Wyatt could have a family once again.
“Apparently there are rumors of NXT stars The Ascension being called up to WWE’s main roster to be put with Bray Wyatt. This is an unconfirmed rumor but it could have something to do with Erick Rowan and Luke Harper being “freed” by Wyatt.”
Most were puzzled when WWE decided to split up a successful faction, especially when most felt that they worked well together, and could still work tag and singles career simultaneously. Many felt that Bray was more than capable of recruiting people to his family… if there was a desire for him to be the leader of a group once more.
We had heard numerous rumors of WWE creative having nothing for Bray, but it appears as though the segments and lack of matches on TV have been ruse to give creative enough time to find ways they can put Wyatt with The Ascension. Many felt that The Ascension was more than ready to be on WWE’s main roster, and due to this, one could speculate that WWE was only waiting to bring them up until they had a marquee story for them. Putting them with Wyatt would easily help them.
The two are great at tag team work, so it seems obvious WWE will enforce that idea with the two, while Bray Wyatt goes onto singles work. Will Wyatt’s gimmick change to fit The Ascension’s darker characters, or will The Ascension change to fit Wyatt’s gimmick a bit more? We probably cannot expect a big beard to be grown by either Konnor or Viktor.
The move makes sense in the long run, as it gives The Ascension a set story from day one, and Wyatt still gets to lead a group. However, many would feel that The Ascension are more talented than Harper and Rowan. The cool part is that they are similar to them too, in that they are powerhouses. You could say they are more athletic, however. The two also work well for Wyatt’s dark, cult-like gimmick. If WWE were to pull this off, I don’t think a lot of people would complain about it. Having Wyatt lead these two, giving them a ton of TV time… I don’t think there is a bad here for WWE or their fans.
