Kristen Stewart Talks Life After ‘Twilight’ Franchise

It’s been a while since Kristen Stewart had to do press for the Twilight saga. Since she ended the franchise back in 2012, Stewart has lived a relatively quiet life and has been very careful to pick her projects. Most of them haven’t been blockbusters by choice and instead she has focused on gritty independent films.

Her newest, Camp X-Ray, screened back at the Sundance Film Festival and among the highlights was Stewart, who got great reviews for her turn as a soldier. Now that the film is gearing up for release, the former Twilight star is ready to talk about how the franchise has made her following a bit of time away from the series, and the chaos of the limelight.

Stewart spoke to E about how her life has changed since Twilight has ended.

“It’s difficult to answer that question. On an exceptionally obvious note, it’s opened a lot of doors, but I’ve become who I am because of that. It was five years of my life.”

What about Camp X-Ray? Well, she had a lot to say about her initial reason in going into the film.

“My initial motive to want to be a part of this is just that there was a really simple, intimate, interior story going on in a place that asks bigger questions. So I think the movie, while remaining entirely objective, is a reminder—it doesn’t answer any questions but it asks them.”

As for her ex Robert Pattinson, back in May he spoke to The Hollywood Reporter on life after Twilight and the fame it brought him.

“You figure out ways to deal with it. It’s been such a long time now, it just becomes what your life is. I can’t even really remember what my life was like before.”

As for how he’s doing? Pattinson claims he’s perfectly fine. “I did some interview a while ago, and it sounds like I’m a manic-depressive about to kill myself, and I’m like, ‘No, I’m not! I have extremely simple desires,'” he said. “I don’t need anything. I don’t want anything at all.”

As for if the two stars keep in touch, Pattinson stated that they do, which might come as a surprise given that they split due to Stewart’s infidelity. After trying for months to work things out, separate and together, they both decided to part ways civilly. Funny enough, they seem to be taking similar paths in their careers.
