An Australian Chef Murdered, Dismembered, And Cooked His Girlfriend Before Killing Himself

An Australian chef murdered his transsexual Indonesian prostitute girlfriend, and police believe he may have been cooking part of her on his stove, before fleeing from police and taking his own life, ABC News (Australia) is reporting.

Police were called to the apartment of Australian chef Marcus Volke after neighbors complained of a foul smell, which was described as “eye-watering” and “like rotting meat,” coming from his apartment, according to The Mirror. When police arrived to investigate the smell, Volke fled from his apartment. He was later found dead in an industrial waste container, with a self-inflicted wound across his throat.

In the Australian chef’s apartment, police found human remains, later identified as belonging to his girlfriend, transsexual Indonesian prostitute Mayang Prasetyo. Her body parts were strewn across the apartment, and according to some reports, parts of her body were cooking in a pot on the stove.

Based on interviews with family members and neighbors, police surmise that Volke and Prasetyo met while Volke was working as a chef on international cruise ships. Volke’s mother, Dorothy Volke, told the Australian media that she wasn’t aware of anything amiss with her son.

“I’m not sure what he was doing — last we knew he was working on boats.”

However, he had recently come home to Australia.

“He was happy and he was coming home for Christmas, everything was normal.”

Ms. Prasetyo’s origins remain unclear, but police believe she had worked as a prostitute in Indonesia. Whether she came to Australia after meeting her chef boyfriend, or had been been there before they met, is unclear as of this post. She had worked at a transgender cabaret show in Melbourne — La Femme Garcon — and fans have taken to writing tributes to her on social media.

“Rip beautiful, the world will not be the same without you. I will miss you so much I couldn’t possibly express it in words.”

Neighbors of the Australian chef and his girlfriend said that the two were a “normal” couple, and they never suspected anything was wrong — until they noticed the smell.

“It makes you feel sick that that poor girl sat there for however many days and we’ve been walking past, living our lives and thinking ‘hmmm what’s that smell’, but you don’t put two and two together.”

This is the second time in weeks that a murderer has allegedly dismembered and cooked his victim. “Indiana Cannibal” Joseph A. Oberhansley was arrested three weeks ago, according to this Inquisitr report, for murdering, dismembering, and eating the remains of his girlfriend.

As of this post, police have not released a motive for Prasetyo’s murder, and it is unclear if her Australian chef boyfriend had a prior criminal record.
