Father sold 14 year old daughter for beer: admittedly it was a lot of beer

In Greenfield California a father has been arrested for selling for marriage his 14 year old daughter to an 18 year old guy. Marcelino de Jesus Martinez sold his daughter into marriage for $16,000 and 100 cases of beer. some meat and some miscellaneous other items. That’s a lot of beer.

Sadly for Marcelino de Jesus Martinez the guy he sold her to took the girl, had her move in with him and then refused to pay up. So what do you do when someone steals you stuff? You call the cops. Oh yes he did.

Martinez was arrested and charged on suspicion of receiving money for causing a person to cohabitate,which is a real crime; forced marriage is illegal in California. The guy he sold his daughter to Margarito de Jesus Galindo didn’t get away either he was arrested and held in the Montery County Jail on suspicion of statutory rape.
